Why is Zelda such an overrated series?
Why is Zelda such an overrated series?
it gets a free pass and no one is overtly critical of its shortcomings
because they are good games and ther'es nothing similar in its genre
obvious bait topic but it was the first series to do both 2D and 3D action-adventure well enough. it's been shit since OoT/MM though
calling out bait and then posting bait.
It’s not, it’s one of the only series that keeps being fresh
because there are no games out there like the zelda franchise.
It literally deserves all the praise it gets, it perfected the action-adventure game formula with ALttP and everything that has come after has been aping it
Just because a game was innovate or set a standard for others games to live up to doesn't mean it's a good game.
>Koizumi entries are praised accurately.
>everything else is hit or miss
all things considered I don't think its fair saying that no one is critical of it.
A lot of big names have been very critical of it.
The general masses were very critical of it in the Wii era.
Koizumi please come back...
Nobody on Zig Forums knows what overrated means. They just use it to cry about “Nintendo game bad” “Sony game good”.
never ever, user. They promoted him to Mario.
Zelda is the only overrated Nintendo series. Mario is amazing and deserves all the love it gets. DK is actually underrated, some of his games are even better than Mario's.
You don’t know what overrated means you fucking retard. Stop trying to shill your pathetic headcanon that will never be a popular opinion. You are like the 1% of the internet.
Stop blaming your depression on games
there are a ton of action adventure RPGs to choose from, it's not the 90's anymore where Zelda showed how to transform a 2D series 3D
Zelda is consistently the ratings darling despite having some of the lower ranking sales for core nintendo titles. It's mostly a bias about adventure games where people, especially in the modern age, look down on sports and racing games because they assume that the entire genres have always been what EA made it become. Sim games were also traditionally underreviewed and underappreciated, although this trend seems to be flipping in the past few years.
When another series wins game of the year 4 seperate times, then you can say Zelda has been surpassed
Can we go back?
Dark souls may be the closest thing but it doesn't feel like a "Zelda game"
Zelda is unique in its own genre, just like Mario.
That proves the games are good you fucking idiot. Sales are 100% reliant on marketing. Zelda being universally rated so high & having over 140 million lifetime sales is a testament to it’s insanely high quality. Metroid being so acclaimed despite low sales also proves that the series is good, because it only became popular due to everyone playing it and discovering it’s a masterpiece
Innovation automatically making a good game? No, because games like most things obviously iterate on innovation and could make something better.
Setting the standard outright? That does make a good game especially when going back to those games, ALttP, OoT, MM, etc. and having them hold up to the newest or even outright surpassing then.
Why do you make such shitty threads?
>Why is such an overrated series?
great thread OP
No game with such a high concentration of quality waifus can be called overrated.
You stretched so hard your arms fell off
>shortcomings
So instead of having daily BOTW seething threads, are they just going to cover all Zelda games? I mean you guys cry about OOT just as much, so might as well consolidate your butthurt into one thread.
Why so buttmad user?
Yes, sonyfags are crying about all Nintendo games now. Even Ff6 & Chrono Trigger and Nintendo didn’t even make those.
anyone who uses the term "overrated" in any capacity should be shot
Two reasons. One, it actually was hot shit for the first 15 years of its existence, Zelda actually did live up to the hype for its time up through the Oracles. Zelda trailblazed enough in the 80s, 90s and very early 00s to forever have its wings. Two, even as the games became more hit and miss they still stand as paragons of focused action adventure design. They're rarely the hardest games but for their size and scale they're some of the most polished as well.
