Being able to mix silly and edge while also having fun gameplay.
Still the most soulful game in the franchise.

PS2 was the golden age of platformers and I miss it
game first, visuals/atmosphere second, story third.
something everybody seems to forget is that 1-3 and deadlocked were all funny as shit. The future and newer titles all feel like they pander to kids with their humor, and before someone says some dumb shit like "you just got older user!" no cunt, read the lines, watch some videos, they literally tone down all the raunchy humor of the first games in following titles.
The anal-izer probably wouldn't make it to release now
this. This was the purest R&C by far.
the only thing that went wrong was tying strafing to the jetpack.
im glad GC fixed that.
Some of the games had jokes like that even in the title. The first two that come to mind are "Up your Arsenal" is pretty self explanatory and "Going Commando" which if I'm not mistaken (english is not my first language) means not wearing underwear
no niggers
no women
witty humour
excellent soundtrack
nothing of the above is present in the nu-ratchet
Yeah that's what it means. I think Size Matters was the last tongue in cheek title.
the future games really sucked ass, but im willing to try out the new one since its been long enough in my book.

Hi Quark
The original trilogy is a special set of games for me. 1 and 2 are pretty heavy criticisms of capitalism by having extremes like Drek in them, without just going "capitalism bad", and a pretty fucking funny while they do it. 3 basically does the same thing with racism, and Nefarious a fuckin riot the whole time (damn shame they milked the fuck out of him afterward).
Even if the later games are more polished on the gameplay front, losing the edge and having the storylines be these pixar epics made them feel soulless.
A damn shame it happened, because I really love the original trilogy, there's not a lot of sci-fi settings like it, and I have a blast every time I replay them.
Soulful graphics, witty writing, memorable characters. The game didn’t feel like it was holding your hand either, there were lots of hidden secrets that felt satisfying to uncover (this was even more so the case in Going Commando).
>plumber, skidd mcmarx
>are you fucking serious
>true
>very true
I miss the electronic music
>skidd mcmarx is black
are you for real
>Not mentioning Drek, voiced by a literal black man
Don't forget quantity. The game simply has a lot of actual levels and shit in it.
He's mystical and helps our hero with sage advice while being a blue collar worker. They might as well have called him Bagger Vance.
The irony is the developers were instructed to basically forget about plot when making R&C1 yet it easily has the best story and characters
Never noticed how kino the box art is before.
>Calls everyone a retard and explains none of their points.
Okay, retard.
>Tools of destruction
>quest for booty
Crack in time is very weak
Tools is kind of a stretch, but I did forget booty.
I dunno though, as muxh as I love the OG trilogy- I really think the Future games are better than people give them credit for. Especially a crack in time. Like they can be a bit buggy and have some dumb problems and they have contrived writing but they're a fun evolution of the buddy cop duo imo by making the stakes more personal. Like the games are directly about Ratchet and his being an orphan and Clank and his uncertainty of leaving Ratchet alone in the galaxy.
ok zoomer
I love how much optional shit the first two games have. Something like the Quark fanboy would never appear in nu-Ratchet.
>3 basically does the same thing with racism
3 isn't about racism, it makes zero commentary on racism. What it does toy with from time to time is how despite robots openly wanting genocide organics, organics don't care as they're too absorbed in Consumerism, it's a critique of consumerism eroding peoples sense of value and priorities. The most obvious example in the game is ratchet thinking Courtney gear's song is really catchy and not even reacting to the fact she's talking about genociding him.
He's a dudebro skater. He doesn't do anything mystic.
Fuck i was thinking of the plumber because i thought they might be the same race of alien as a kid
Wtf bros did Ratchet 3 predict 2020?

Really highlight what changed between each game and he notes how much the number of paths decreases between each game (3 has about half the number of 1, for example).
Is she from something else? I never knew she was a easter egg.
You're right. I guess in my comparison I was likening Drek being an extreme example of abusing capitalism to Nefarious being an extreme racist. Consumerism is the constant across the trilogy, which is a great glue holding em together while they still explore something slightly different each game.
The plumber isn't mystic either, he's just blue collar. He really doesn't come across as any race imo, no character does (aside from quark obviously, and the president in 3 clearly being a Clinton parody) which I like.
If you perform flips in front of her, her tits grow. Crouching makes them shrink.
The 3 game doesn't explore the idea as indepth as the first 2 with their themes, so it's not surprising most don't notice the theme.
Brave new world did it first.
Reply all's should be anally impaled.
>Literally just Banjo-Kazooie in spaaaaaace
>Outlives Banjo-Kazooie
lol
ToD and aCiT made plumber magic.
To be fair Imsomniac wanted to call ACiT "Clock Blockers" but Sony said no. Insomniac loved the name so much they used it for a skill point in Nexus.
What was worse, All 4 One or Full Frontal Assault? I got both for stupid cheap but haven't decided which to punish myself with first.
Banjo Kazooie has guns?
Yes.
fuck nu insomniac. the good ones were not made by furfag trannies.
