The remaster was fucking lazy, and some textures and effects look arguably worse than in the original, but theres no real reason to get the original over the remaster. They added some MP content and they fixed up the performance a bit so you don't need player fixes for the game to be playable and it's locked to 60fps instead of 30 now.

You could mod the original to be playable. Can you mod the remaster to look good?

there is literally one ladder that you will sometimes fall through and die if you slide down on it with 60fps enabled, the one out of the rat pit right next to the covenant of the sun statue bonfire in undead parish

also jumping is harder because your air momentum depreciates faster, but the backspace toggle pretty much fixes this for the one time its required (iaito jump)
