I didnt know you could cheese her with Jahan so I had to tank her shit.
Yeah, I teleported her over to the Demon Hunter who blasted her ass.
Teleporting her to oblivion also works
Reminder that Divinity 2.5 aka BG3 never will be as good
Without getting into busted broken mechanics, whats a good starter "Build" For someone who's going into it, mostly blind?
Ah shit. Here we go again. BG3 is going to be fantastic. Its coming back to D&D's roots.

Reminder that the way things work in act 1 isn't necessarily a good representation of how things work later in the game. I think a large part of why "hurrr you NEED to spec into full physical dmg otherwise game impossible" is such a prevalent sentiment despite being false and also retarded, is because you really have a hard time dealing proper magic dmg at the start of the game. Shields in act 1 also suck fucking ass.
If you just want an ez and simple character build that will carry your ass hard for most of the game, make an archer-type and just fully focus into increasing their damage with level ups. It's very strong in a 4man party and completely fucking bonkers in a 2man LW party. Like I'm talking that if you make an LW archer, the second character in the party is fucking obsolete.
If you feel like your characters are lacking in combat efficiency, just give them 2 levels in Aero and pick up Teleport and Netherswap. Instant, massively useful utility. If you want more general efficiency, pick any one (and possibly two) of the jump skills.
Bump
Can't wait, hope they show more races
Yeah, and I actually killed her without cheesing, so I was proud of that
Are one use Idols of rebirth cheesing?
Builds mostly become irrelevant later into the game, and you can respec after the first act. Generally all characters want 2 points in aero for teleport and at least 2 characters should have hydrosophist so they can heal.
Teleport is the most important ability in the game, every character should have it. Also, Polymorph is generally good for most characters.
Two builds or play styles that you pretty much can't fuck up are high ground archer, and death knight. The former is just about getting the mobility to find high altitude spots to snipe from and dish out ridiculous damage, and the latter is a heavy armored melee guy who keeps healing himself with the necromancy passive. Summoner is fine too, the incarnate becomes strong at rank 10 but without lone wolf it might take a little while to get there. The totems help you out in the meanwhile, and being able to pick elements from puddles and such helps with flexibility.
Yeah, but that's fine. The game was meant to be cheesed. Playing without cheese is like playing morrowind without alchemy and enchanting.
BY THE HAZING OF THE SHADE
You can start respecing from the ground up all you want very early in the game, so don't worry about it, just play
Don't spend hours on the creation screen like me and waste your time, it's not like you will figure out what's good and bad without getting a grasp on the game anyways
>Always drop my playthrough near the start of reapers coast
>Always restart instead of continuing even though theres a respec mirror
>300 hours of this
One thing that is counter-intuitive at first, but you will need to know, is that you probably want to focus your party on either physical or magic damage. The way the game works, if you are doing both types of damage, you are usually wasting damage.
But Reaper's Coast is a great section of the game! Unfortunately I played the first island like 5 times because my friends and I kept restarting and now I don't have the drive to finish the game. 200 hours and I'm only at the third island.
Its not bad, I'm just burnt out by that point after doing absolutely everything on the island first.
I see this everywhere about teleport being essential, but I've never used it past the Gloves with it, and I still got everywhere I wanted easily.
I've got both a ranger and a rogue with their brands of teleport-like abilities plus the pyramids. Jump with ranger -> press pyramid on main character, everyone is there.
It's not about traversal, it's about utility in combat. I never could have saved the Sourceror in the Black Pits fight if I couldn't teleport him and the enemies all over the map as I wished.
Well obviously Teleport isn't about the out of combat usage, it's talked about because it gives you so much control during fights themselves. Stacking enemies before dropping a nuke on them is one of the most effective tactics in the game.
This game, every time I play it I get sucked in. but if I put it down for a while I forget what to do and start a new game. IDK how to fix it.
Also, to add to this, oil puddle + teleport can take an enemy unit out of combat for up to 3 turns. It's uses are almost endless.
Thanks lads. I plan on starting with either Ifan or Red Prince as my main character and taking the other along side the Elf and either Beast or Lohse.
That just happens. Any rpg I just can't get back into after some time passes, it feels like playing someone else's save, gotta make a new one.
Red Prince is based af. Just a tip, Red Prince and the Elf won't really get along, but it makes for an interesting story, so it's up to you. Have fun!
I'd go for Red Prince, Ifan is fine for a compainon, but as an mc I'd say he is rather lacking with a rather simple, generic character and straightforward, predictable story. Red Prince is far more exciting and exotic.
But, I was planning on romancing the Elf
Go for it. I played a lizard character and she was such a bitch to me that I took all her possessions, including her clothes, and kicked her out of my party nude and with nothing to her name.
You can, I know I did, and it was actually interesting considering the Slave master - slave relationship
I thought the sentiment was "if you don't go full physical or magic damage you're LITERALLY gimping yourself" outside of utility skills, due to how Armor/Health/Most CCeffects work
Yeah, this is true. I think he is saying you don't need to only go physical, like you can go magic OR physical. At least, I think that's what he is saying.
Yup.
Her and the scarecrow fight were pretty memorable due to the difficulty.
I had to cheese both. I couldn't fathom how to beat those fucking scarecrows, so I looked up strategies and found out you can teleport one near the Paladin camp and it aggros all the paladins. It was honestly still not easy because the scarecrows could kill some of my characters in one turn.
I killed her, she was hard when I first saw her but after clearing the island she was kinda easy.
It's not like the game is that hard you have to do it, unless you ramp the difficulty above average.
I made a generic fantasy rpg party with both magic and physical skills and on standard difficulty the game ended up being rather easy. You attack enemies with low magic armor with your mages, enemies with low phys armor with your rangers and rogues.
On another note, at some point I respecced to Glass Cannon on every single character, and it made it different, wouldn't say harder or easier, just different. I was easy to cc, but on another hand the rapeforce my characters could unleash in one turn with ap granting abilities on top of it was unreal.
So it sounds like go physical, since Bows are Physical damage and I'll be focusing Ifan with them, and since I'm not really changing up the base characters too much, I'll have three physicals and maybe one Magic.
For this reason, I highly recommend Classic difficulty, if not Tactician. Tactician can be difficult, but Classic is perfect. Challenging, but not extremely difficult. If you are going to use things like Glass cannon and Lone Wolf I definitely recommend a higher difficulty.
