>turn based combat
Turn based combat
i love spending 1 hour on a single combat encounter
this but unironically
>Grand strategy
>First Person Shooter
playing through front mission 4 right now and loving it
>rhythm based rouge-like
>Metroidvania
>Wolfendoomer
>turn based combat
>turn based
nice slow as fuck, brainlet-tier gameplay bro
>Action RPG
Name one game besides crypt of the necrodancer
I don't think there's a moment where I've not cheated in a turn based combat game. Nothing is more boring than watching a bunch of shit animations slowly churn out as you select different moves one at a time. When people buy or play turn based games it's not because of the gameplay, they play it for the story and characters or because they like the series.
>>Hollow Knight-esque
Roundabout.
Rhythm Quest
Cadence of Hyrule
>"Hurr durr turnbased boring, my adhd brain doesn't like it"
>Posts a turn based game
Based retard
I'll never understand how people can hate turn based combat in general. Sure some games are unbearably slow, but it's like some people can't handle any games not being action centric.
You think you’re fucking clever mate? You think you’re fucking hilarious? Fuck you, goddamn cretinous moron. Go eat glue somewhere else
It's a subtle joke and it flew right over you bud.
Wasn't roundabout that ripoff of kuru kuru kururin? How is that rhythm based?
>tactical turn based combat ala FF tactics
It's because when most people think of turn based combat they think of games like pokemon where you can just spam your strongest moves to win
I love it
.
Because everything is about instant gratification now. You get more endorphins from shooting enemies with a gun than completing a battle that takes several minutes. Thats why 90% of the games being released are shooting games and or action.
>porn rpg maker
Only worthwhile response
turn based srpg
I don't know but they ruined final fantasy.. X was so good and now they're just button mashers. 7R wasn't that bad but I still think they could have made a game that kept the original gameplay and upgraded everything else. The meme that that's what games have been striving for is so fucking retarded.
>early access open world survival crafting
>urn based combat
>Active time combat
Reminder apocalypse is the best x-com game.
Because they've never played a hard one/without grinding before.
FF7's turn based combat is completely rancid. Its the worst combination of easy and tedious with endless cut-scene breaks for every fight
Me too, its a high IQ kind of feel.
Action RPGs are fun. I’m not saying rpg games suck, but I’d much rather play an rpg like Chrono trigger or the Mario rpgs where the combat is actually fun and requires timing, than just a boring combat system like the final fantasy games have
It's brainlet tier
You have all the time in the world to respond, there's literally nothing going on except 1 move.
Squeenix completely abandoned FF being turnbased and shill hallway action RPG'S nowadays. The only turnbased thing from them now are DQ and other shit like Bravely Default
This is a good place to ask. If there was a solo JRPG (there is no party just the MC) which would you prefer?
>Each attack will have a different quicktime event or interactible put into action and your accuracy will determine its effectiveness or if it hits at all.
>You have multiple resources (not just a single mana bar) to use attacks from, and have to strategically pick the attacks depending on the resources and the enemy in question
>The enemy's defense is a static value that decreases the chance to hit, but can be made better with better characteristics.
>turn based sequel to a RTwP classic
point 1 sounds very similar to legend of dragoon
On a personal level, I'd go with option 1. option 3 introduces too much rng and I feel like option 2 would be very difficult to build stats around.
>roguelike
Is it guns, or swords, or magic, or all? Because with guns you could make it so issuing an attack opens a little window for 2-3 seconds where you have to play Counter Strike to get the hit in. But with melee weapons, it would be too clunky.
In general, I imagine a turn based combat system like the new X-COM, but instead of those in engine cutscenes with your guy running forward and gunning, enter real time mode for a few second and have the player perform the running and shooting. Or make the running automated, as per the orders issued, and have a few second long on rail shooter segment.
Just something different, because the only jRPG style combat I've enjoyed in the last few years was Darkest Dungeons, and that was basically like playing a slot machine, the same kind of thrill in a sense.
The only time RTwP was good was Might and Magic
suck the cum out of my ass, BG2fag
Second one sounds like PM sticker star and colorsplash, albeit there is no mana only the usable resource
Truth
The only thing chess proves is that you can play a meme game with different pieces and rules.
>but wut about le guy that sees 10 moves ahea-
it's a solved game with solved strategies.
Maybe if you can become a GM in a month then I would call you a genius because intelligence is your ability to adapt and learn and how quickly you do so.
But the act of "playing chess" itself does not mean high IQ at all. It's been proven that people who play it for decades are just average intelligence people, it 's the kids in GM range that are geniuses because they would be good at anything they choose to do.
>>You have multiple resources (not just a single mana bar) to use attacks from, and have to strategically pick the attacks depending on the resources and the enemy in question
This one because the tabletop game I'm making runs on this principle almost entirely. Every form of nonbasic ability pulls from a resource that must be generated in a different way, with certain resources being triggered based on mid-battle responses, some of them being generated every turn, some being based on movement, etc. The splitting of these resources allows for players to come up with a means of combining them for maximum effect, which means more natural skillcraft and the constant upwards momentum results in highly tactical, but also very quick battles.
do i have the game for you
>DUDE STATS SO LE HARD *pop* random skill kill all your party WOAH le hurd
