looking for things to do
Any of you niggers play eve online
yes.
Any single player game that mimics ship fitting and fleet combat of eve online?
maybe battlefleet gothic armada? tachyon? There really aren't any games that play the same. You either fly a lone ship or are playing more of an RTS.
atrox imperium perhaps but its early access
The only games that I've played so far that have scratched the itch was gratuitous space battles, which is a buggy ancient mess, and starsector which has an update cycle that rivals dwarf fortress.
I'll check out these two. Thanks.
played it but unirnoically didnt have time for it
homeworld 2
...which raises the question of what exactly you're looking for. Just customizable ships in skirmish or fleet warfare, with a space theme?
How do you play an excel chart?
singleplayer?
nah.
X3 has the combat and ship flying fairly similar though.
if you dont mind lobby PVP similar to World of Tanks or War Thunder, look into Star Conflict.
It's basically Eve Online but in 16v16 instanced PVP, 5min matches with simple objectives like "capture the point".
>le eve spreadsheet sim meme xD
was true 10 years ago but isnt now.
game's got a lot of QoL and been fairly casualized to encourage newbro retention
I don't play anymore but I made mad dosh solo-exploring in Providence. Godspeed.
This game has been shit for nearly a decade, let it go. The golden era for PvP that had stakes for failure was in 2006-2011. After that it became fucking shit. Making the resources even across the board made conquering land pointless and inflation is so out of control that even if you destroy their expensive ship they'll have enough money sitting around to buy a dozen others. The moment the developers created jump freighters the game died. The ability to move large amounts of goods without risk completely and utterly derailed the game. You could move shit via Carrier before that with a few haulers filled with shit inside it but that was excessively inefficient and time consuming. Alliances had to move shit by hand with convoys of freighters and haulers with an armed guard, which surprisingly would get interdicted. Hey who wants fucking PvP content in their PvP game? Better to let the players just teleport shit from safe space directly to the door of their home station. Same with the 10/10 Plexes (Think dungeon encounters). Instead of making them randomly respawn over the course of the day so they weren't Russian dominated they opted to remove them entirely, yet another PvP driver out of the game.
There is NOTHING TO DO other than fucking mine rocks and shoot rats, all of which are spawned in random locations in each star system that require an excessive amount of scanning to find. Of course, they're already getting safe the second you show up in the local chatroom because having a system that reports hostiles with 100% accuracy doesn't make the game hard at all for small offensive actions.
Star conflict is nothing like eve online.
Eve online has automoves and autofiring.
SC has manual aim prediction and manual movements also it's dead as fuck in low tiers and filled with bots in pvp
new player?
how long you been playing?
what have you done so far?
I'm gunna assume you're the typical "played for a week or two in highsec but dunno what to do" player.
Check out
>Faction Warfare
>Exploration in wormholes/null
>Burner Missions
>Gate camping in NPC null
>find a quiet piece of NPC null or lowsec and live there. belt rat and run local anoms for isk
>go to Provi, run sites there and help fight the good fight
>join NPSI fleets (pick-up groups) that leave from Jita. good way to get practice being in fleets/gangs and to make some friends/connections.
where I was drawing the similarity was the fitting.
Star Conflict's the only game that's even come close to the customization of Eve, especially once you get to high tier ships that have 4 or 5 slots per subsystem.
skill injectors shitted up the game so left some years ago after playing for 10 years
Probably the former. Atrox Imperium looks to be what I'm looking for, but early access will probably have me waiting for a bit. Unrelated, but I also have an eye on starbase's development.
Anyways, I'm out. I didn't really want to hijack OP's thread. thanks for the suggestions.
Have to make your own content and git gud at the social aspect of the game if you want to have any impact.
You can make your own content in other ways than being a 1-man wrecking crew.
yes but nowdays i just sit in jita making money
>mfw /eog/ died not because Eve died, but because /vg/ became the fastest board on Zig Forums thanks to gatcha phone game spammers
I was a part of the crew that came up with the concept of AFK Cloaking in 2006. I've run every single aspect of the PvP side of the game from 1v1 piracy to FCing large scale fleet fights, spying on Alliances and setting up Supercaps to get hotdropped and destroyed, scamming/killing people with Lofty scams, Open Contract Scams, Recruitment Scams. If there was a way of harming people in the game I've done it. The developers are mental rejects who have made the game overly safe to the point that it takes too much time and effort to kill people. Even in 2006-2011 it was a pain in the ass actually nabbing people, which is why I and the other people in my group developed AFK Cloaking in ratting systems and cloaked camps.
>Alliances had to move shit by hand with convoys of freighters and haulers with an armed guard
FUCK I MISSED THE GOLDEN AGE. This is my exact dream, to be able to participate in shit like this. I even made my own corporation that does armed-escort lowsec freighter runs, but none of the jobs pay enough to get people together. Why couldn't I just play 10 years ago?
Honestly, it makes me want to quit right now. The fact that my dreams used to be attainable but are no longer is just crushing. Maybe it's for the better. I had fun talking with people and making friends but if my ultimate goal is no longer feasible...
isn't your complaints literally exactly the reason w-space is a thing

The game went downhill the more jump capable ships they made, the addition of jump portals on POS were a huge fucking problem in clearing the pipes of all traffic and the jump freighter sealed the deal. In most organized nullsec alliances there is a lot of jews who run delivery services so you just log onto an alt, buy your shit and write up a delivery contract to your main and it gets handled. People never leave their shitty little pockets of space and never suffer hardship. Particularly in the 2003-2007 period it was fucking hard to sustain yourself in Nullsec. There was a lot of holes in the market that could buckle an Alliance because they were LITERALLY incapable of sustaining a war effort. The whole reason AFK Cloaking was so deadly was because it induced economic trauma on them, nobody could generate money while hostiles were in system and anyone that dared attempt it would get attacked by a few hostiles at random. Mentally they would break under the strain and Alliances would collapse under their own infighting.
W-Space is safer than Nullsec because they can continuously collapse the entrances to a C6, even if you chain collapsed the wormholes intending to spawn the exact wormhole you knew hostiles in it would be a 0.9% per spawn that the wormhole would spawn because there is only 113 C6 Wormholes. Wormholes only made the problem worse because once a group is entrenched the task of getting them out is ruthlessly hard.
That sounds so cool. Too bad I never was a part of this.
It's obvious you haven't paid attention to changes in the last year or two
everyone is swimming in isk and alts and supers, losses mean nothing anymore, which undermines the entire draw of the game in the first place
combat is the most boring rock paper scissor shit i ever tried, EVE is shit and boring as fuck.
It's the fedora of MMO's.
>That sounds so cool. Too bad I never was a part of this.
Yeah EVE was a really fun game that tended to get in its own way really often. The 2006-2010 period had the issue of AoE Titan Doomsdays that would ruin fleet combat and crash the game because of so much math being done by the server CPU. Even if its flawed state.
They made Local disappear for a bit of time, made NPC attack shit and now citadels drop loot when killed and are no longer a bitch to remove. This still doesn't mitigate the stupid fucking Rorqual invulnerability module and Supercapital umbrellas in Delve and other regions. I'm still in the same Discord as my old internet spaceship guild because I've known these people for nearly 15 years.
