Summer is upon us!
How do you deal with the additional heat generated by your gaming pc?
Do you just stop playing vidya during summer?
Summer
I've never had this problem as I have like two ac's on in my room at any given time.
user.
My CPU is a FX-8320e.
If anything, I was molded in heat. Nothing has changed.
My PC runs cooler than my room.
How does the power bill not ruin you?
I'm not a poorfag and I live in a depressed area and all of my bills are dirt cheap.
By keeping my apartment at 78F. That might seem hot, but when outside is 110F, it's actually still a bit cold.
>fahrenheit
do americans really?
I, uh... replaced my GPU fans yesterday.
Bought a 1070 last year at a super low price partly because a friend fucked up the fan blade while when upgrading. Despite ordering a spare I had never actually replaced the thing because other than a light rattling noise it seemed to be working fine.
Cue Summer and the motherfucking thing started hitting high temperatures and making a racket that was driving me nuts, so I had to go ahead and do it. Considering getting a better cooling solution since it's an ITX model and not built to stay all that cool anyway, but with new GPU models right around the corner I don't know if I want to be spending money on my current one at this point.
NZ reporting in.
Freezing my nuts off in my uninsulated unheated apartment but at least my PC's running well.
I hate it but I didn't feel like converting it this time and being an american, we don't know the superior celsius. Outside gets like 40C or some shit though I know that much. Probably hotter.
>t. will get mobbed when the power goes out for 1 day
I can hear the chants of BLM through your post.
>uninsulated unheated apartment
how is that even legal?
I usually put Ice Cube on my processor. It just works for my machine. He doesn't like it though and constantly sits there, giving me that look but I think I've managed to get used to it.
I just bought two more fans for my case, and I have an extra set of internal fans for my GPU, which tends to run hot. I want to make sure my air flow is efficiently removing hot air from the case, right now I have most of my fans on intake duty, and I don't think that's going to work.
My CPU doesn't run hot, but I'll likely be doing more intensive work on it as time goes on, so I want to make sure it doesn't buckle.
I own a house on each side of the equator, so I just move.
>not running an overclocked R9 290 with the power limit maxed
An FX 8-core is child's play.
user upgrade...
I just bring my PC into the basement guest room. Being upstairs in the dead of summer is fucking unbearable. I go to sleep semi-comfortably and wake up in a dry sauna, dehydrated in a pool of my own sweat. The faps are phenomenal though.
Poor white area in the mountains
I haven't seen a black person up here in months.
I can afford air conditioning
No fucking way, how?
I go work at music festivals for the summer. Obviously not happening this year though.
I can't wear headphones during summer
I always resort to shitty apple earbuds
>The faps are phenomenal though.
How are faps related to that?
>40°C outside
Jesus Christ, how do you people not burst in flames? Where exactly in the US does it get this hot outside of deserts? Florida?
I am in the desert, in Arizona. I was interested in calculating it, and it actually gets upward to 45-50c lol
>how do you people not burst in flames?
Water and shade. Short bursts of sunlight are okay, and actually it feels nice to walk in 40C weather for like 10 minutes after you wakl out from a building that had its AC blasting, but yeah you don't see too many people walking around during the afternoons. If you do, they are miserable.
F
...that's... not... how... that... works...
I like it though. If I disliked this heat, I would have moved by now.
I should also add, multiple hundreds of people die of heatstroke in the capital every summer. It's not uncommon to have 200+ deaths, I read about it in the paper. People think it's okay to go like an hour without water but you just evaporate lol. Even inside in the AC, you have to drink a shitload of water. I have no idea how these people survive on soda.
how DOES it work?
why not
lower ambient room temps means your computer doesn't have to work as hard to cool itself
turn all my pc fans into intake fans, so all the air is pushed infinitely into the case, never escaping
>cpu literally shuts off the pc at 70C
Most CPUs these days regularly run hotter than that in moderate loads
