Miles has a lot of potential. Rarely are playable characters built up so well like this, it just depends on what they really do with him in the actual game.

What makes Peter Parker interesting: he's a normal guy trying to be Superman. Yeah, the dude has powers and is basically a genius, but his life is a complete shitshow. Despite this, he tries to balance being Peter with being Spiderman. Even if it fails miserably.

What retards think makes Miles Morales "interesting": Peter Parker, but black and doesn't have to worry about screwing his entire life up because he wanted to be a good person. Granted, PS4 Spiderman set Miles up with some potential. But a full dedicated game raises the risk of him falling back into "We Wuz Spiderkangz"

They do need to differentiate him a bit more but desu the way I see it, it's likely going to be the origin arc that was omitted from the first game but with miles, also his role already makes him a bit interesting being the apprentice geeking out that he's actually a superhero. People like Peter because he's relatable. He's not some mega uber chad, he's often found down on his luck, but despite always being down he is always determined to be the hero. He's the perpetual underdog, and everyone roots for the underdog.
Unfortunately for Peter, he's been around for a long time and the status quo for his character has gotten stale. For every up in his life there is an equal if not worse down to balance it out. Peter is not allowed to be happy.
