I think this is something a lot of people here need to hear after seeing the response to the new Paper Mario game:
Not every game is, or can be, made for you. There are many different audiences who play video games. Not every game can be targeted to your specific demographics. Some games like The Sims or Animal Crossing will be targeted at women. Some games like Mario games or Pokemon will be targeted at children. So when you screech about how a game meant for kids isn't "hard" enough or "deep" enough you are really just making an ass of yourself. If you want games designed to appeal to adults then buy them. Xenoblade is made for adults. Fire Emblem is made for adults. Donkey Kong is made for adults. Paper Mario is not made for adults and no amount of yelling, shitting your parents or throwing shit is going to change that. If you want to keep playing games in a franchise for children like Paper Mario or Pokemon then don't complain when the game is easy and basic.

So why the fuck to they still stick with the Paper Mario brand if they want to target a new audience? Don't they know this will just make the fans upset and create this whole mess?
They could have made Paper Yoshi, Paper Wario, etc but when they name it Paper Mario, it WILL be compared to the past games.
It is like Doom suddenly changing into a strategy game.

So we should give kids bland, uninspired garbage just because they're kids?

Because the Paper Mario brand has nothing to do with TTYD anymore. There have been 4 games over 15 years since that game. And all of those games have targeted children and casual gamers. I believe about 3/4 of Paper Mario's sales have been to the games after TTYD.

Give it up fag. You got blown out today. Partners are back. Partners are in combat. Partners get names. Badges are back as are items plus normal attacks.
You lost faggatoni.

>durr its for children
And? That is literally an argument against what you're advocating for: Kids are developing themselves with these games. Why should they be given garbage? Making something for kids should require twice as much attention

It's just TTYDfags bitching that it's not exactly like their backtracking simulator. Smile and ignore.

It's clearly not bland or uninspired. It's basic and simple, but it isn't bland, that's for sure.

I didn't know a koopa wearing sunglasses counted as inappropriate for children

Get new material. There are many original designs in this game. For example, in the Ninja town there are goomba geishas.

Yeah diet partners that auto attack one enemy (when you attack multiple at once) and fuck off after a while. They were added literally because people kept bitching but Tanabe didn't want to add them, so he throws everyone a bone hoping it leaves him alone.
They just had to make partners follow you and make their moves in battle actually useful.
Also there are no fucking badges, but "accessories" which are all set (look in the menu and see the icons are all a set shape and there is no BP limiting what you can use), calling it badges is insulting to what they really are. It is yet another half-step Tanabe is doing hoping people will stop sending him hate mail.

If it's for children then why are you talking about it? That's right your'e a pedophile.

this is your average oragami king defender

You can absolutely enjoy games made primarily for a different demographic. While I would absolutely prefer TTYD 2 like a lot of people here, I understand why that isn't gonna happen and this game does look appealing enough to me to justify a purchase. And I'm not some PM fanboy, I skipped the last 3 games because they didn't interest me.

>People chose not to spend their money on shitty games because of the low quality
>People now choose to spend their money on a high quality well made game
>This doesn't make sense to you because it's not a clone of a 15 year old game.

>it's okay for it to be shit, it's for kids
Kids deserve better.

>Kids conveniently deserve their games to be exactly what I want

lol imagine accusing people of wanting a clone of ttyd while defending making sticker star three times.

Just about no defenders have said they were cautiously optimistic for this game so nice strawman

I was a kid when I played 64, faggot. Are you saying kids today are so braindead because of mobile that they can't handle a game like that?
And what is wrong with appealing to both children and other age groups like Nintendo used to do?

Kids got 64, kids got TTYD, kids got SPM.
The kids who got Sticker Star and Color Splash got fucked over and that's not okay.

Mario Party 3 and Mario Party 10 are both for kids. Are you really going to pretend 10 is just as good or better?

When has Nintendo ever appealed to adults with their Mario games? They've always been pretty simple and basic. TTYD was the exception and they clearly weren't happy with it which is why they immediately took out all RPG elements in the sequel and made it a platformer. Nintendo never intended Paper Mario to be for adults, IntSys just made it that way anyway and Nintendo was clearly not pleased with that decision.

Have fun playing your pseudo-RPG with no progression.

TTYD was absolutely not made for kids. The game's story and dialogue should tell you that. One of the characters is a fucking trap for god's sake. You think they put a trap in the game for kids and not degenerate homosexuals? TTYD has a god damn harem angle to it and you think they designed the game primarily for children?

color splash this bitch, flop those sales.

You ever sit down and think about the fact that you're trying too hard? That this is how you choose to spend your weekend alone?

Did the NSP leak or something?
Why won't Zig Forums shut the fuck up about it

And before anyone says the goalposts were moved, in threads right after the first trailer anons posted what they wanted fixed in order of importance. RPG progression mechanics were top of the lists.

instead of countering their argument, you lash out with petty remarks. You are a pathetic user.

>You ever sit down and think about the fact that you're trying too hard? That this is how you choose to spend your weekend alone?
And you are spending your weekend screeching about a children's video game series not rehashing your nostalgia from when you were 12.

It isn't about appealing strictly/directly to adults or kids, but to "everyone".
This concept seems to be lost nowadays, with Pokemon and Paper Mario both being braindead easy because God forbid some kid gets stuck in an area in a game because they are too stubborn to think.

Vivian is a girl. Beldum calls her a boy to insult her.

Appealing to everyone is a great way to appeal to no one. It's important to target your audience so that you can actually make them happy with the product. From your argument mcdonalds should start making the happy meal for everyone by including figurines for adults.

I legitimately believe FP was replaced with paint and confetti because some dumb tester complained when they ran out before reaching a town or something.

What point are you trying to make? If an adult wants to buy a happy meal they can, this has nothing to do with the argument at hand.
Besides as shown, the classic Paper Mario fandon really likes the game and both kids and adults can still play it without issues, while newer games mostly try to diminish what the classics had going for it by doing cheap laughs and gimmicks that even a 5 year old would find boring.
It didn't, equipment is now durability based.

I meant in the series in general. Yeah it's a guess that confetti is used to craft weapons now but if it isn't, that's even worse.

SPM definitely did not have the same demographic as the other new games. Not with the story and characters and other things it had, the only thing casual about it was the motion controls and even those were tacked on, the game wasnt built around them.

>faggot trannies fervently screeched about sword and shield with their strange obsession with 'm-muh children' until it was the "norm" to like the game
>same thing happens less than 24 hours after origami king's info dump
Hmmm

>he says screeching to the people screeching
don't even try the "lol I don't really care"

They could still, you know, make the battles worthwhile.
>battles dont give you anything but coins
>coins dont do anything except give you more time in battle

So then just dont battle.

Taking the bait. Games in a franchise should at least live up to expectations set by the best of the entries that came before.

>NoA tried to hide as much as possible
>Actually localized the characters and gave them names, in Japanese Kamek and Bobby are just generic
>Put in a "Yet another Toad joke" in the trailer
NoA is trying so hard to salvage this, but NCL sabotages them at every step.

By this logic:
>why should street fighter be a fighting game rather than a racing game?
>why should halo be a fps rather than a rythm game?
>why should metroid be a rogue like rather than a fighting game?
Innovation can be a good thing when it has substance, post-TTYD paper mario has been nothing but failed abortions of games desperately trying to not be perceived as turn based rpg’s and it reflects in the numbers, why throw away the core mechanics of a consolidated franchise for a what-if? Ever heard the saying “if it’s not broken don’t fix it”?
