I cook almost all my own meals, my mom cooked everything from scratch when I was a kid and I always liked helping out so I had a good head start. I have a few specialty dishes I'm really good at but I can comfortably cook almost anything. I have a particular knack for seafood because it's the best kind of food and I've spent the most time on it.

Learn to make white sauce (bechamel). It's just butter, flour and milk. Goes with every single pasta. Non egg fake mayo with milk and oil in a blender and add whatever (garlic, olives, parsley - only one thing tho). You also need to find out what condiments you like the most
Learn the different ways you can prepare potatoes properly. You can apply that knowledge to other starchy vegetables.
