This, and gameplay is a better story teller than anything. Much like IRL experiences are some of the best stories you can tell, gameplay experiences should be how the game should allow the player to create narratives.
Arma, racing sims, Dorf Fort, Minecraft, competitive fighting games, they are all really good at this.
