It's ok, It gets more hate than it deserves but there is no reason to play it if you haven't already exhausted all the better Megaten games.

It was the first one I played (Japanese PSX version, so I got to listen to actual fitting music). It's my favorite Persona because of the music and the "reality gone topsy-turvy" thing. Persona 3 and on weren't like that and it's one of the reasons they disappoint me.

I got about halfway through and got really sick of the dungeon design/encounter rate/slowass combat so I watched the rest of the cutscenes on YouTube. Also like to listen to the PS1 soundtrack from time to time. I don't feel bad about it.

How is it possible to think this? It took a perfectly fine fusion system and turned it into grindy bullshit. The gameplay was just generally a step down in every department

For fucks sake this. It's been almost a decade. Granted if they're porting the persona games to steam I hope they put the superior psp versions of IS and EP on there. Still livid to this day we got one but not the other. I haven't been able to continue the series because I feel like at any moment they're gonna port it.

3/4/5's combat isn't masterful by any means but it's way better than 1/2's. 1/2 are slow as fuck with stupidly high encounter rates, with no depth. 1's grid system is interesting on paper but in practice is just annoying and encourages you to spam magic that hits everything.
