So I saw the new expansion trailer and have been wondering if I should pick the game back up. I initially played when Horizons came out. So what all has changed?

This game is fun for a week then becomes boring as fuck.
Time/progression ratio sucks and it feels like a second job. This is a game for anyone who only wants to play it and nothing else.
Got this game since it was on sale, and I'm not really sure what my goals should be. I bought a new ship with a bit of cargo space, but what are the more long term goals?
>So what all has changed?
Honestly too much to post. The ayylmaos were added and they're extremely challenging (but profitable) to hunt. We have multicrew (which is mainly an excuse to use ship launched fighters), and wings so you can play with others and share rewards. Mining got entirely revamp and is now 3 different games in one, exploration was expanded and is now not just hold M1 to clear, trading is a bit more involved but is still basically german space trucking simulator.
New ships, new weapons, new engineering is a shitshow if you're into PvP but great if you're into PvE/anything that isnt PvP.
That depends on what you're interested in doing. At the end of the day everything boils down to making credits and ranking up your status, but how you get there is your choice.
Personally I've been doing void opal mining to make a billion credits so I can then fund doing other things, mainly I want to get the Engineer upgrades to increase FTL travel because fuck doing more than a few jumps to get anywhere.
Thanks user.
> multicrew
Is there a community who plays it here? I haven't been able to find a general or seen any threads frequent enough to have one on Zig Forums
mining is better now, exploration has been revamped

Money and materials are much less time consuming to grind, but still boring. Depending on how long it's been since you've played, there are probably new ships you haven't seen and most of them are actually good! Mining, exploration, and engineering got overhauled for the better. Other additions were multicrew and wings, as well as alien combat which is fun but pointless since they seemed to just stop making it affect the galaxy
Overall the game is still a pretty big time sink, not as bad as it used to be but there's still a very clear lack of direction.
you make up the goals yourself as you progress which is why a lot of people don't like the game. It depends completely on what you like doing in the game. I exclusively do PvP and exploration myself, so my goal was unlocking engineers, and I also built a mining cutter so I can afford muh expensive combat ships and rebuys. You kinda just have to figure out what you actually like to do in the game. Do not fall for the Fleet Carrier meme, 90% of players do not actually need one and you should only get one if you have 10+ billion credits
Oh ',:^(
/vg/ never had a real ED community and it died ages ago. There is a match maker ingame for getting into both wings and multicrew. The multicrew one doesn't seem to work very well with randoms, the wings works fine but again its randoms.
I recommend you use the ingame squadron finder and this inara.cz
do what is fun, spend credits on modules/ships. If you think you have a great ship look into the engineers so push it even further
if you feel like it go and explore ayy lmao bases, thargoids are cool looking tourist spots, guardians actually give new tech you can use
>materials are much less time consuming to grind, but still boring.
Core mining is great
yeah but laser mining is much faster which is why I said that. I'm a corechad myself solely because it's actually fun even though I know I'm missing out on the precious Credits per hour min max
1. Earn money.
2. Buy better ship.
3. Repeat.
4. Grind for engineering mats.
5. Engineer ship.
6. Repeat.
7. Uninstall.
Game is definitive 500+ hours not recommended-core
Make money by either fighting, trading or exploring. Aim for a end game ship you're interested in, for whatever role you're interested in. Once you get it, kit it out, then upgrade it with engineering.
At some point fight Thargoids, shit yourself and die. Then repeat again in a wing and beat it.
>install game on steam
>boot it up
>please make account to play :^)
Why is this shit allowed?
Thanks user ',:^J
>yeah but laser mining is much faster
I dunno about that, although I wouldn't argue it. I can get 192 void opals and make 250m in a couple hours with voids, once you figure out how to find them quickly its a really easy way to make money. I was Elite in 3 days from it.
I know of the triple LTD grind but honestly its so far away that without a carrier it seems worthless.
>we will finally be able to talk our pilots out on walks
triple LTD laser mining in Borann before the patch yielded about 250m-300m per hour. In my cutter I would do runs of 3 hours and they would net me between 800-950m credits. I'm not sure how fast it is in the new location, obviously if you have a carrier it's even faster now because you can just cram 25000 of them into your storage
The new location is like 400ly from bubble space also the new supply/demand mechanic means that anything over 200t gets drastically reduced in value
Does anyone here use VKB sticks and, if so, how long does it take before they release more upgrade kits for the base Gladiator II?
you post this in every thread
are you sure about the supply/demand thing? That's fucking bullshit for traders if so. I thought the drastic value reduction only happened if the station demand wasn't 10x the amount of cargo you were carrying
That's why I only ever mined when there was a high sell station with 5120 demand for LTD's because I have 512 cargo space
It's literally a space truck simulator
>no VR
bullshit
Not a bad game if you're into sims, but speaking as someone with 500h in ED, I'd honestly recommend checking out scam citizen, at this point it surprisingly has more to do than ED even if it's a buggy mess. flight model is smoother as well.
Yeah, lots of people are pissed about it because it means running a Type 9 or something else large gets less per ton than smaller ships.
We don't know exactly how it works yet, we know that higher demand = less reduction but it doesn't avoid a reduction, and we know that the reduction hits hardest after about 200t of cargo.
It'll come after launch, eventually
>as someone with 500h in ED, I'd honestly recommend checking out scam citizen
fuck off, do not ever recommend that shit in its current state
