>/tg/, a board that knows 40k better than the back of their hand says that Samus would be considered op in that universe
>Nah bro, she would get REKT in this game!
Try harder

how, by spamming powerbombs?

I'm not fond of powerwank, but it amuses me that Samus is probably second in Nintendo's roster of first party main characters in power, with Kirby being in first.
Her main powers are mobility, adaptability and durability. Knowing what she does, how exactly does she fare in these games/settings?
>>Space Hulk: Deathwing
Samus is arguably comparable to a smaller, faster, more well equipped (without resupply) Terminator, so this wouldn't be out of the question for her.

Well unless there is a "chosen one" thing going on where only said chosen one can beat big bad cause reasons. Would do pretty well 99% of the time.

Yeah, pretty much. I'm trying to think of a sci-fi setting that'd beat Samus, and I'm drawing a blank. So far I've thought of:
>Mass Effect
No heatsinks, more movement options, more firepower, arguable biotic resistance.
>Any of the sci-fi Final Fantasies
Magic might be a problem, but we don't know if Chozo tech is super-duper-advanced or straight-up magitech, or if Samus can learn how to use it herself. Might vary by game.
>Resident Evil
Technically science-fiction-horror. I don't think there's anything in these she can't kill.
>Risk of Rain
The most interesting one I can think of right now, especially if you have her start with basic Power Suit equipment.

>Dead space
I don't doubt it, but how?
>Starcraft
Redneck W40k so yeah
>Doom
>Halo
Fit for the job
>Mass effect
No romancing though
>Spore
Yes
>Star wars
Yes
>Starbound
Yes with more birb
>Space Engineer
No, everything she builds either gets set on fire, dies or the planet explodes
>Freelancer
Chill
>Earthbound sci-fi
>Half-life
>Portal
>Bioshock
Yes but most of the time she opens the wall instead of the door. For anything to be challenging for the suit has to get shelved.

She's plot wizard tier, she has to get nerfed for most settings to be a challenge to her.

>she has to get nerfed for most settings to be a challenge to her.
I find it funny that post-Fusion Samus is probably her strongest version period, when it was the one game to go out of its way to nerf her really hard

>SMAC
no matter how strong you are you can not beat the crushing oppression of twisted political extremes and the nightmare hellscape societies created by them
or rapeworms

People are thinking of plenty of sci-fi games, but they are forgetting the only other sci-fi game that earns its power wankery.

Warframe

She would be a boss at most in warframe.

Fuck, that's a good point. She'd be a great match for Warframe.

>lands behind samus

Right? From the outside she is already almost a frame herself! Shit I bet you could make a frame themed off of her and it would sell like hotcakes. Give it powers based of of her abilities but have low ass cool-downs so you could spam super missiles. Maybe one that replaces her gun with one of the higher tier cannons from the game?

Destiny arguably.
She would have no trouble against fallen(who are tech worshiping space pirates), cabal(Roman legion themed brutes from halo) but the vex(time manipulating supermachines), hive(practically immortal) and taken(space demons) are out of her reach.

The vex because without the traveler's light she can get stuck in some loop and even with it surviving is almost impossibly difficult.
Hive and taken are weak only to the traveler's light lorewise.

Might have trouble in destiny because of respawn being an actual plot point.

>Risk of rain
>Item fanfare on loop for 5 hours straight

Well she's pretty much on tenno tier minus psychic potato so they have the upper hand unless she finds chozo asspulls. Would be funny to see Corprus trying to copy her suit and end up exploding like the space pirates.

She would walk through most settings in either her 2D self or her 3D incarnation.

Samus at the end of Super Metroid, and Samus at the end of Prime 2/3 are alarmingly overpowered.

>but the vex(time manipulating supermachines), hive(practically immortal) and taken(space demons) are out of her reach.

What about Muv-Luv Alternative?

Ah, crossovers that could never be, because Nintendo's not about that kinda thing outside their own console. Still, they could make a "Space Hunter" frame with thematic energy weapons if they filed the serial number off.
If she starts in her Power Suit setup with no chance of progression, she's boned. If she starts in her Power Suit with either Chozo tech being around or Warframe tech being compatible, or if she starts at Gravity-Suit-or-beyond levels, she turns into a boogeyman for criminals across the galaxy, let alone the solar system.
>Item fanfare on loop for 5 hours straght
Ah fuck, I can imagine it. Pic related.

Destiny is heavily based on the PC being THE chosen one amongst the already chosen ones user.
It took thousands of deaths of nearly immoral magic soldiers to fend off an invasion in the moon yet the PC and 5 randoms can kill god in 20 minutes.
Without that kind of fanfare Samus wouldn't make it to the heart of enemy territory.

I guess, at this point, we get to the nitty-gritty, then.
Would Samus' status as "The Hunter" count for anything? Probably not. Would The Traveller intervene? Can she appeal to it?
Probably a good time to point out that I'm not boned up on Destiny lore.
I know next to nothing about this, so I'm just going to guess from what I've gleaned of previous information:
The big threat in ML:A is the Beta, right? Big, fleshy bioweapons? Samus does have experience taking down monsters many times her size, and if there's a base to exploit, she can probably blow it up if it can be infiltrated. But without more information from a certified lorefag, we can't say for sure.

I played through destiny 1 and thought the shitty ass arsenal you have is a fucking joke compared to the magical technological nonsense Samus pulls of on a gamely basis.
Her suit is the most adaptive weapon ever made in her universe, if there is a way she can defeat her enemy. She'll find it and acquire it.
Are you talking about that Crota horse shit on the moon? The pointless shitty waves of weak ass enemies until that rock in the middle dies?
If so, then lol.

Only one I can see her having a hard time with is dead space

She would have the easiest possible time dealing with those mindless shit for brain enemies. I'd say she's a steel trap for mental attacks as well but Other: M ruined everything on that front, even so she is an incredible powerful individual and holds next to no one dear due to her line of work.

Samus is anime-protag levels of ridiculous.
Dont think theres a debate

because shes on the high end of mary sue spectrum and we barely know how her suit works or its limitations, outside of jobbing at the beginning of a new game for gameplay reasons. shes a step above her own universe with bird tech, theres never even been another humanoid chozo suit user in metroid

I need a fucking sequel already so i can see that warlord chozo from Returns in action.

That's why it's interesting finding her actual weaknesses.

>Any of the sci-fi Final Fantasies
Full power ff characters are ridiculous

>loses all upgrades 10 minutes after arriving
>no chocobo statues in new universe to get more
Yeah no she'd be fucked

>supreme commander would like to know your location
yeah pretty sure she just gets shredded in supcom, then again, what doesn't?
