Anyone else hopeful it'll still be a good game?
I've seen a lot of sjw bs from this but I'm hoping that if I just ignore it it'll turn out to be a decent game, story wise. The first Last of Us is one of my favorite games ever, and I've waited 7 years for a sequel. So here's hoping it isn't a huge let down. If you're not a fan of the first game please don't even bother commenting. I don't wanna hear the same bs about how "movie games" suck.

No, I'd prefer it to do extremely poorly. Pretentious cinematic story oriented games that put narrative over gameplay are contrary to the medium and have been a cancer for way too long.
I'd like developers to stop using resources to make these things.

I think the first was really good survival horror when you turned the difficulty all the up, hope the second is the same and hope they dont kill ellie
The gameplay is already fantastic in both games. Just because you have a short attention span doesn't mean there shouldn't be a focus on the story that compliments the gameplay.
I've already played an actual survival game that is leaps and bounds better than anything conjured up by Snoy.

story looks good to me. it sounds like they're actually maturing in terms of storytelling techniques too. the cutscene where she kills the ps vita player felt way more realistic in terms of violence than tlou 1, a lot more subtlety in general.
I don’t know, but the fact that she rejects a sandwich in the post apocalypse when before she had to eat what was possibly human flesh because she was starving is hilarious. The whole Abby thing is worse now too because now we know that she BTFOs Joel RIGHT after he saves her ass.

It's the same fucking gameplay from 7 years ago. Literally the only thing that could have made it remotely enjoyable was the the story, and they fuck that up beyond reason, beyond infinity...just way beyond.

I watched the leaks. I have no hope for this game. People like to shitpost about Cyberpunk 2077 and VTMB2 but they both look better to me than TLOU II.
Honestly the leaks made me want to play it more.
I enjoyed the gameplay of the first one, even if it was nothing too innovative. Part 2 seems to have removed all of the "walk slowly while characters talk" segments if the reviews are to be believed which is nice.
I'll just play it on the max difficulty but having the scavenging difficulty on the easiest so I have resources.
