Gloomwood
Liam King
Juan Walker
What's happening in this weebm?
Ryder Morales
looks like some guy drowned trying to shoot a wall
Carter Rivera
played half the demo, it's great fun. I'm gonna go play thief 1&2 while I wait for it to release. I'd only ever played thief 3 before this point
Aaron Young
shooting guns underwater
Ryder Richardson
good idea, no mods vanilla first
Samuel Williams
I might download something just to scale up the resolution to something more modern if the game doesn't support it outright. But yeah, I'll make sure to do it vanilla
Justin Young
just finished the demo, took me 50 minuets, its fantastic.
it feels just as good as thief 1 and 2 when sneaking around, but now when im caught I dont think "time to load my save", because the guns feel good and are effective, but ammo is limited so it isnt your go to for dealing with enemies.
I love this game already
Christian Ross
Did anyone find out whats behind the coin door? I only found 14 coins so didnt get it open.
Isaac Gomez
did you find the monocle or the coin in the sack?
yeah its a note and some supplies
Joseph Carter
I found those. I'll go for all the coins on the launch one if its just that.
Dominic Bell
>grab item
>walk against the wall with it
>item clips through the wall and is gone
GREAT GAME
Carter Thompson
>final crow encounter
>pull the lever, no idea what's it doing
>die 2 times because the crows appear and gangbang me to the point where I can't melee->block->melee without taking some damage
>3rd attempt, hide in some different corner
>they still find me
>but only one of them gets close enough to hit me so I can take it out safely
>stand still
>the other two crows only look at me
>take a short second to look around, looks like that one door is now open, what if I just bail and run
>run through the door
>surprise, it's an elevator getting you the hell out of there
man am I terrible at this kind of game, I'm still having fun though
Christopher Taylor
>inspired by Thief
>here's combat! You get a sword! haha combat! Thief!
So is the demo complete shit or what?
Grayson Jenkins
maybe the coin from the window in the starting hallway?
Isaiah Martin
definitely feels like someone asked "how do we make thief more accessible?" and the only answer they could come up with was "guns" when in reality the only people who play thief are the same 5 people who have been playing it since it came out
Wyatt Howard
No it's pretty good.
William Powell
have you seen the control scheme for thief 1? that shit needs fixing at all costs
Isaiah Clark
thief had combat yknow
Hudson Phillips
idk man i just deal
Eli Collins
You know why System Shock is more known than Thief?
because of combat gameplay
Brody Moore
it does have combat but you do want to be stealthy, resources are limited so you cant go blasting with your guns.
you can always just turn up the difficulty to really punish you for being caught if you so desire
Gabriel Martinez
no one should have to deal with early era PC controls and different key bindings for walking and running
it's just too cruel
Leo Rogers
DESU Thief 4 is actually a lot better than the shit in this game so I'll probably just go back to that
Yes but it's not isnpired by thief. Inspired by fucking GTA or some shit. It's a stealth game. Not a "reee combat fps"
And it was seen as a way to lose the game on the hardest difficulty. I expected it to be the same in this one. There's no penalty for killing
SS and Thief are two completely different styles of gameplay though
It's harder but it's still easy to abuse even on Blood Moon
Ayden Martinez
oh god your one of those kinda of people
Thomas Perez
Asher White
played it yesterday, quite scary.
It gives Amnesia and Dishonored vibes.
Hope it proceeds more in being a horror game than stealth.
Brayden Fisher
Ryder Moore
Yes ones that wonder why combat is an option in a fucking stealth game
Parker Clark
I ghosted it and had a good time but then i realized that i just wanted to play thief so i went and installed some fan missions
Nathaniel Bell
Zachary Wilson
>Yes ones that wonder why combat is an option in a fucking stealth game
To be super clear - Gloomwood is not a Thief game. Please don't go in looking for that experience.
Leo Rivera
So is it just a quake clone? What's it about?
William Rodriguez
Because that's how theif and metal gear solid both did it back in 1998 when they jointly created the stealth genre. You're vulnerable, and stealth is incentivized, but if you know what you're doing you can kill everything and play it like an action game. Very few stealth games are pure stealth with no combat options.
Samuel Wood
It's Thief with guns.
Benjamin Hall
i cant even be bothered, Ive talked retards just like you and I know you're too retarded to see your own stupidity.
I hope you slip on an ice cube and crack your skull
Adrian Wood
>Thief 4
Blake Gonzalez
I know they have stealth as an option.
I'm just amused again at false advertising
>implying
Neither of them invented shit. Stealth existed in games before those.
It's an alpha demo I think from the few times I've beaten it
It's optional stealth with a FPS focus on exploration though it's linear
Hunter Morgan
>Neither of them invented shit. Stealth existed in games before those.
Stealth before Thief and MGS was a joke and everyone knows this.
Adrian Taylor
>Thief: The Dark Project
>Thief 2: The Metal Age
>Thief: Deadly Shadows
>The Dark Mod
>Gloomwood
Why did the naming scheme in the franchise went completely off the rails?
Ian Walker
Just finished the demo. The absolute pinnacle of SOUL but maybe a little too derivative of Thief for its own good. I liked how smooth everything was, even booting the game takes just a second without any bullshit intro logos or anything. Even something like changing the resolution works in real time so kudos to the dudes for their efforts. Also liked how everything except for the light bar was in-universe and I dare say the save system shits all over Thiefs original one, it certainly makes everything more intense and immersive knowing you can't save scum your way out of trouble. I know harder difficulties on Thief have a limited amount of saves but I still think this save system is a lot more refined and paced better with shortcuts and building of tension etc. Also really loved the sound design and atmosphere, it does live up to the high standard Thief set. One thing I didn't quite like was that there was no story hook of any kind but I'm assuming the demo is more of an vertical slice than the actual starting level the finished game will have. If not, I sure hope there is going to be an intro cutscene or briefing to build intrigue and get people invested in the story and context of the game.
I just hope the devs bring out their own unique vision stronger in the full game so that the game isn't just a Thief homage but manages to stand on its own two legs. The demo was fantastic so I'll be sure to keep an eye out for this one.
Ian Sullivan
How long is the demo?
Hudson Bell
Again neither of them created the genre.
Now if you want to imply that the failed movie director Kojima damaged the concept of it in games, I will agree.
Thief never invented shit. It contributed more to survival horror than it did to stealth. Even the concept of light/shadow existed before then in games
Cooper Smith
Nigger I ghosted the demo on Full Moon with all coins.
>lmao not Blood Moon you fucking casual
Yeah.
Andrew King
Took me 45min to complete but I didn't scour for any secrets or whatnot
Ethan Sullivan
Around 40-50 minutes.
Isaiah Hernandez
>It's optional stealth with a FPS focus
So it's a michael bay/doom with fast paced action explosion and shotguns but also you can stop, crouch down and wait for patrols to move around? What kind of idiotic mix is this?
Wyatt Lopez
took me about 50 minuets but Im sure some stuff
Colton Smith
>Again neither of them created the genre.
They did, the genre itself, stealth wasn't a genre before 1998. It was a collection of sloppy mechanics no one had actually worked coherently into a game yet.
