Huge release game comes out and they both get a prerelease copy
Both review it and upload their review the same time
A was honest and gave the game 6/10, "it was pretty basic, story was all over the place, wait for a discount"
B was looking out for his popularity, "10/10 best game ever, definately GOTY candidate"

There are several things that happen next.
Publisher/Developer doesn't even acknowledge A, look at all the 10/10's TLOU has gotten, you haven't seen any of the other ones have you?
This increases exposure for the reviewers that give better marks.
More exposure means more subscriber count, i.e. more money from Ad's

Publishers/Devs are less likely to send a pre release copy to A next time are they?
Now we see that A got less exposure than B, B has secured a pre release copy for the next big game.
Next big game comes around and people want to hear about it.
Are they going to go to A or B to hear about it first?
Obviously B, because he gets it early.
More subscribers, more money.
A is fucked, because he gave his honest opinion.

The industry is literally a back scrubbing wankfest. Anyone not willing to give a reacharound gets left behind.
