I love Persona 4, it's one of the best RPGs I've ever played, in my Top 20 vidya all time and probably the best Persona.

Play Royale if you hate yourself and you're a pathetic weeb if you want to play an already padded-to-hell game with even more terrible padding and a completely tacked-on epilogue with new coomerbait. I personally think the Maruki arc ruins the focus of the story.

i never played one before but like the demon theme, how big of a difference is the royale version? Would you say it is the equivalent to a whole new route in a VN?

Persona has always been ancillary to me, in that I know it exists and I know basic details about it as a series from Zig Forums over the years, but I've never actually played any of them.

Is it worth trying? Is it actually a good game, or is it weird surrealist Japanese shit? Are there good waifus? What about that robot chick, is she in it? Is the gameplay interesting, or does it get boring real quick?

I've always hated ATLUS. Only shit they've put out that was good was SMT 1 & 2 and Cubivore. They completely fucked up BAROQUE's remake.

I was just like you, decided to just play it, loved it. What more can I say. I don't play any other JRPGs or watch animes. Just give it a try, it's surreal tho and you'll have to like abstract feels to some degree.

check your nvidia control panel settings, fix had something to do with turning off all video and movie settings to application controlled + disabling all "enhancements" or quality features.

I can get their point but it was unironically done so well in 4 I didn't mind the lighter tone. The writing is still pretty tight all things considered and carries the experience hard up until it shits the bed towards the end.
It's nothing anywhere as bad as the jump between 4 and 5 where the decline of quality hits so fucking hard you have people (rightfully) dropping the game left and right. I always wondered why it was that I dropped P5 after Futaba's palace and never even bothered to buy Royal despite loving the series so much I bought a Vita just for P4G, but replaying this game with that experience fresh on my mind just made me realize how shitty P5 actually is as a Persona game.

I am not the voice of Zig Forums but I played it on Vita and was not impressed. The only part of the game that's gameplay are the RPG elements and those are disgustingly basic. The draw of the game seems to be narrated parts where it's like you're a Japanese kid in some small school. That is just not interesting to me. Especially when you and your friends become a pop band. That was when I noped and put the game down for a while.
