Part 2 next year? How likely is it?
Final Fantasy 7
well if you're wishing for it come out next year, its a monkey paw. you dont want them to rush the entire rest of the game since disk 2 is basically the entire over world. the longer the wait, the less cut content. Unless they are cutting content and padding out certain locations instead (which would be bad!)
As long as it is a 50 hour RPG like part 2 again, I don't care. 18-20 chapters of story is good enough.
>Square Enix
>Doing anything fast
Granted they have a working pipeline now, an actual process and something approaching design decisions, but we still don't know how they're going to handle PHS and the overworld (if there is an overworld, they might just stick to the scale the world is presently rendered at and just gate world travel to the plot)
Part 2 is probably Kalm to Costa Del Sol given how much padding they've been doing, but they might speed things along given the reception to the padding they did in part one and at least give us everything up to Cosmo Canyon
well it would be bad if fans felt like they were ruining the story of the original FF7
>2021: FF7 remake part 1 the textures actually load now edition
>2022: FF7 remake part 0 the story of zack fair or how i learned to reuse the midgar assets in order to keep making money
>2023: FF7 remake part 2 we still haven't figured out how many parts this game will be
If they add Crisis Core to the Kalm flashback I'm going to laugh so hard and give up on the remake
i seriously cant wait for them to sell Part 1 again next year for the PS5 and watch you guys defend it/buy it again bc the textures now are mid res instead of low res
unless they reduce the quality or the content its literally impossible and SE said as much... on the other hand considering SE lies when they just open their mouth maybe its possible lol
I've replayed part 1 like three times already, and I would play it again on ps5. It honestly is the best game I have ever played.
its really fucking good and the combat after you get it is literal perfection and if the watchers of fate shit is gone for good and they dont shove zack in the next parts (just give that tard his own game outside of FF7r) its possible that at the end of all the parts (complete edition on pc) it will be the best game of all time (again lol) for decades.
Considering the whole Covid shit, 2022 or 2023 for part 2 is more likely
I just hope aerith gets to live.
Very unlikely. Nomura has said that he wants to do shorter episodes so they release more frequently, but there’s no Square Enix can manage a yearly release schedule. Their various teams can barely put out one game a decade each, let alone one a year. Since they’re likely going to recycle episode 1’s mechanics for the rest of the remake project and Nomura wants shorter episodes, I think 2022 is the earliest we can expect episode 2 assuming there aren’t any major setbacks in development.
aerith will die but zack fair and aerith from the alternate timeline will meet up with the crew 10 minutes later so it's like she never died
2022
I don't, that's not the story of ff7
How does Capcom do it? They release a remake for a WHOLE GAME every year and sell MILLIONS. while square enix can't even remake ONE game as a whole.
Nah we for sure aren’t getting to Cosmo Canyon unless this becomes a trilogy, which IIRC they’ve said they’d really rather do at least four episodes. The earliest place I can see them realistically ending it is the cargo ship battle against Jenova.BIRTH and the latest I can see them ending it is the finale of the Corel/Gold Saucer sequence after Dyne commits sudoku and you win your freedom in the Chocobo race. Both of these end points would have another OC Sephiroth encounter shoehorned in to make it feel like a proper climax, of course.
>I don't, that's not the story of ff7
Shut the fuck up, you never played the original 7. Aeriths death RUINED Clouds character, he turned into emo faggot advent children cloud and I hated his character after aeriths death.
I played it before you were even born zoomer and I don't care about your fan fiction, I only care about what is canon.
It'd fix the dumb plot hole that is Aerith casting Holy before Meteor gets summoned, that's for sure
No idea what her character arc would be if she lives, though. She has no central flaw to her character other than being stubborn. They might make the major twist of FF7R that the Cetra are still alive (who knows, maybe the people at Mideel, Bone Village and Icicle Inn are all distant cousins) and she has a people to belong to again
have there been any examples of episodic games that actually came out on a reasonable schedule and were actually good?
>fan fiction
No, they should include the original route where she dies, but also if you like defeat all supervisees and have all secrets or some stuff, make cloud strong enough to save her and change the story. They already did this in part 1 with aerith/tifa only date scenes.
>No idea what her character arc would be if she lives
Breeding 500 children from Cloud maybe?
Aerith will most likely die in part 2, there's no way they allow you to do that as they would need to write 2 entirely different routes for part 3 and maybe 4 where Aerith isn't dead, it's not happening.
Annual series almost always have multiple teams working on the different games simultaneously, so that all the games get several years in development while still releasing one game every year. VII Remake is being handled by a single Square Enix team so speedy releases isn’t possible, not even taking into account the fact that Square Enix is legendary in their incompetence. Development becomes more expense and time consuming with each new hardware generation, so even if they copy paste the mechanics and assets from part 1 into all the parts going forward and all the future development is focused purely on recreating remaining content its a massive stretch for them to manage one part every two years.
I'd argue that Holy isn't even the catalyst for summoning Meteor. I'd say that Holy allows for the complete control over the lifestream. It would explain why Aerith is able to influence and help Cloud out so damn much from the time she dies to the end of Advent Children.
>Aerith will most likely die in part 2
This doesn't make any sense. In the original she was just a girl in your party. NOW she is the most fleshed out character in the whole game, even more than cloud. They made everyone care so much about her, why would they kill her off?
>This doesn't make any sense. In the original she was just a girl in your party. NOW she is the most fleshed out character in the whole game, even more than cloud.
How is this relevant?
>They made everyone care so much about her, why would they kill her off?
You answered your own question, Cloud and Tifa will have to cope hard once she dies, probably not barret and the others as they're more mature.
Very unlikely , at best we will get part one ps5 edition.
>Part 2 next year? How likely is it?
Who cares, after that shitshow of an ending who would even want a Part 2? The game was a 10/10 right up until that point.
They've barely started, not at all.
There’s no conceivable way they’re getting to the Forgotten City in Part 2, even though it’s still on disc 1 it’s like just past the halfway point of the overall game. Part 3 is the earliest Aerith will get MURASAME’d unless they do some drastic rewrites, which is also a very real possibility now that I think about it.
You really want to separate these cute sisters from each other? Just so your game is "canon"?
If they end up going the trilogy way, part 2 will end with Aerith's death, otherwise it's going to be 4 parts and she will die in part 3, this is the most likely scenario in my opinion.
Yes.
So that it hurts even more when she dies. That’s drama 101, if you care about the characters then their plights are far more engaging. This is assuming that she still dies in the remake, all the awful OC shit in part 1 was about overcoming fate and changing the future.
Considering it's Nomura and Sqiare Enix... And they the UNREAL engine 5 is coming.... Yeah, maybe 5 years
