I played just the first Rogue Squardron
It was good, but not good enough to make me become consolefag just to play the sequels

it'll be like eabf2's story where you start as an imperial and defect once you get btfo by the new republic, to tie the game's story into the alphabet squadron books.

I really love Rogue Squadron, would I like X-Wing and Tie Fighter? I understand those are much more in-depth sims, in contrast to Rogue Squadron’s arcade style.

Reminder that the original Factor 5 Devs got back together and made a 'Rogue Squadron Trilogy' on the Wii. Which was a full remake that took 30 levels across all 3 games and made one huge single game.

It was 100% complete and finished and ready to release and now sits in a vault somewhere becuase EA has the license.

I played the original back then on pc and it was fucking hard, I could never manage to bring down more than one ATAT in Corellia.
And that was just the fourth level, I used a cheat to unlock all the other levels thinking I only sucked in the Corellia mision but I don't remember even passing any, just the first three.
Thats how much I sucked, maybe in the N64 it was easier or I was just too young.

They're worth trying out at the very least. They're more hardcore than Rogue Squadron, but they're still not as demanding as many flight sims since you don't have to worry about stalling.
The main thing to keep in mind is they're much older games.
