It didn't need to pass that much time and besides a president can serve two non consecutive terms.
The point is you present a character that works for the president and saves his daughter, then you have another game in wich the same character is best friends with the president.
Why is he best buddies with the POTUS? Well it should be obvious, Leon saved Ashley, but no, it's a diferent president, thats called bad story telling

They have essentially been merged into the same organization at this point.
In RE4 Ada is working against Wesker, but we know by that point Wesker is working for Seashell (see; Tricell) and Ada sells the virus to ???
HCF works for the rival corporation, who Wesker defected to until he gets all that shit in Umbrella Chronicles.
They have all that, but they're not really an organization within the game. The only people you really see are Carla and Simmons.

I know RE6 is a 'bad' game, but I'm midway through it now and it's been the most insane game I have ever played. It lulls you into a false sense of mediocrity before suddenly throwing you down a waterslide backwards as you shoot a giant zombie shark chasing you. If anyone here hasn't played it please do, it's the dumbest/best thing I have ever played, me and my co-op partner at first tried to guess what's the stupidest or most insane thing they could throw at us in a level but we've given up on that since we have never once been able to predict correctly.

I dropped it after the boss fight with the giant fat zombie. It's incredibly rare for me to just completely drop a game like that, but RE6 was such garbage I couldn't stomach any more.
