I've had to babysit two normalfaggots through SMT IV.
They miss a line of text and next thing you know they have no clue where to go next.
Or they forget how to navigate the world map again.
SMT games also have less focus on characters and don't have things like lyrical music or voice acting.
Persona games you don't have to know what you're doing since there's a rhythm to everything.
No matter what you do at the end of the day the game will force you to go back home and start the next day.

This shit worked on PS2 and DS because mainline wasn't doing so hot but all the different spinoffs provided something for everyone and it all fed back into other games
