Why don't devs interact with their playerbase anymore?

Why don't devs interact with their playerbase anymore?

just consume

big devs are too big to care
small devs are afraid of getting crucified by twitter

Who'd want to? Twitter will pick apart the game with "Why aren't there more black people in the game? Why do the black people in the game not have a bigger role? Why is the MC white? Why are you white?" The subreddit for the game will be upvoting the same screenshots and jokes over and over again. God help them if they come here.

For the sake of balance, don't pretend you fags don't blow your tops any time you see someone black in a game.

Apart from that, why should devs interact with their playerbase? Nobody demands actors, directors, writers or musicians to interact with their fans, why should this be an exception? "Gamers" are fucking retarded.

They changed Sonic appearance in the movie because of fans backlash.

The appearance is much better now. They made the right decision listening to the fans.

Exception proving the rule.

wow ok yeah I'm thinking he based

Nah. Insecure devs who spend too much time with their playerbase keep changing their shit to appease mouthbreathers.
Anonymous/faceless creators who only show up once in a while to post something about their next project and then fuck off for months are the best.

kek

Bungie has this issue. They get all their feedback from reddit, twitch streamers, and youtubers.

Also Sonic fans are actual fans, not some dumb SJW enabler looking for good boy point. This is the real problem, how to separate the fans and the "fans"?

Video games are not passion projects anymore
people don't do them because they want to make awesome games for people to enjoy
People do them as means to an end, they kinda like the process and they've played a game once that they kinda liked, so now they're making video games for compensation.

I was working at a game company for couple of months as an artist. The guy who owned the company and wrote the code for the game, had only played the original Doom and Doom 2. That was the entire repertoire of games he had played in his entire life, and the guy was like +40 years old. He had a second code monkey hire that kinda played games but not that much and the main artist for the project didn't play games at all, she just like drawing.
It was fucking weird, working at a game company but having nobody to talk games with. The company was at this hub where there were other game companies as well in the same building and you'd hear very well what the people in the current floor were talking. Absolutely everybody was fucking normie - tier, talking about garbage FOTM games and other dumb shit.
I am someone who plays games like 10-12 hours a day, have been for well over 2 decades. These people were fucking alien to me.

Take a look at the steam forums, at youtube comments and at official company account twitter feeds.

Now ask yourself: Do I want to interact with those people?

Dick Kickem showed him
douk never looses babys

He clearly is having fun.

Gamers are retarded because we have too many white incels around. Thankfully that's changing.

Because players are a bunch of whiny children. I wouldn't want to interact with them either.

>romance VN is written by khv loser
Stop the presses

Also big studios interact with their playerbase through local test groups

Because the only "acceptable" place to do so is reddit, and reddit's retarded, so they don't bother.

A successful video game studio needs to be a bubbling cauldron of creativity. No-one wants to risk that now.

>Neets buy neet game because developer admits he's a neet
Is this the secret to sales?

And it's the most retarded thing ever.
All feedback that isn't related to technical issues or playability such as ACTUAL accessibility/QoL changes should be utterly ignored.

I imagine it takes a lot of patience and mental fortitude not to call retards retarded. I would minimize the chances of fucking up too if I was a dev.

>For the sake of balance, don't pretend you fags don't blow your tops any time you see someone black in a game.
When did Zig Forums do that when it wasn't blackwashing, forced or historically innacurate?

Yanderedev did... it didn't end well.
