What is the feeling called when you desparately desire for an upcoming game to be good, but you are almost certain it will be terrible.

Being a sony fan

Being realistic.

Cautiously optimistic.

Looks good for the price. There's no subscription fee, and it's locked in for 40 burgers.

I'm actually really hopeful that it will have good PVE. The PVP 50 man warzone looks fun, but a might bit chaotic for me.

>good PVE
I would not get your hopes up there user. PvE content was borderline nonexistant in the game until December when they went a new direction. What you are looking at now are some fetch quests and a horde mode. There are no dungeons or raids.

Will there be any sort of hybrid pve/pvp activity?
I feel like nobody has ever tried to make a game mode like Arathi Basin, and AB was fucking awesome.

>could have just copied WAR's RVR model
>instead went with a retarded battlegrounds model

Absolutely retarded

FUK

And it actually was ticking a lot of boxes for me

>action combat
>multiclassing
>interesting setting
>not an eyefucking cartoon

No dungeons? How can that be?

Well, given that they added pve in reaction to players wanting pve, I think theres a reasonably good chance that it will be fleshed out more in patches

I guess though it will all depend on the player reaction at release.

I'm most interested in the PVE than anything else. At least I won't have to constantly pay a sub to hope the game improves.

But it's confirmed you can reach out to your mates in the best way possible.

>what if we took dark souls combat and put it in an mmo
I'm so tired of this shit being everywhere. I fucking hate how slow DS combat it why are devs copying it so much?

To my knowledge, no.
Yeah. I'm pretty sure they are looking into expanding the pve over time with the games as a service model. If the game holds onto a playerbase I would expect to see some more stuff. The issue I personally see is that the selling point of the game is this endgame war mode they showed off. So PvP. And here is how I see that going.
>the crowd that is going to stick around is going to be the PvP crowd
>meaning the content that will be added in the future will either be disconnected from their long term pvp crowd keeping the game alive
>which is bad
OR
>it will be PvP focused and leave the PvE guys out to dry
>which is bad
I'd keep an eye on it user but unless you are pretty interested in this war mode I wouldn't buy it at launch. For clarification I am interested in the war mode I just don't want you fine PvE folks to get burned. At least wait for some day 1 reviews or something.

>Playerdriven economy
>Housing
This is something I would have fucking flipped my shit over 15 years ago, but now not so much. What do we know about the houses?

>dark souls invented weapons having a feel of weight to them

That combat looks absofuckinglutely nothing like any souls game, the fuck are you on about?

I mean the devs mentioned Dark Souls as an inspiration but it doesn't have a lock on. Its not a Dark Souls clone.

Being a VtMB fan

>There are no classes in New World.
dropped

>Being a VtMB fan
beat me to it. honestly I still have a small shred of hope but the one thing that really did it for me was that awful trailer. literally looks like a gmod parody.

How many fucking times do I have to say this?

New Worlds is fucking garbage.

It used to be good. Last year I was in the tests. It was a purely open world PvP focused game with territory claims, clan warfare, and all sorts of really cool shit. It was fucking great doing stuff like protecting resource gatherers as we hauled resources between areas to trade or build, or ambushing other players and stealing their shit.

Then some pussies complained who weren't even planning to play the game, and they go trid of the PvP and turned it into a PvE game.

Except there's no content to replace what was lost. It's a PvE game with no fucking PvE content. The PvP is opt-in bullshit.

I was planning to preorder, play it in beta this july, and see for myself if it's something I'd like. I can cancel the preorder, so shouldn't be risky.

That literally does sound amazing, why on earth would they gut that experience?

>hat do we know about the houses?
It’s prefabricated shit. I think it’s in designated areas only but I’m not sure

>pvp is opt in

Why is that a bad thing?
What joy is there in fighting/defeating a player that has no interest in fighting back?

>pvp sandbox where you craft/build/survive
>literally does sound amazing

user theres like 20 fucking games exactly like that

This doesn't sound good, man
To fuck with them? Why else?

communication is for zoomers and young millennials. Good players should be able to coordinate with situational awareness and inference

Speaking of games in development, anyone remember that MMO in development where the gimmick was you can build a settlement in a region and what type of settlement determined quests and what not in the area, and then every server would be different depending on what sort of settlement was built in the area.

>purely open world PvP focused game with territory claims, clan warfare,
A flop. This is shit design and has never worked

Unclear. The passionate head of the studio was super into all out pvp. Then he exited the studio for unknown reasons and no longer works in the industry. Not so Wild speculation? A producer wanted it to be something else and he quit so the studio caved.

Because in a game fundamentally designed around completely open world PvP, where the vast majority of the fucking point of the game is exactly around that experience, you can now decide to just not partake in it.

You can no longer deny enemy resources, you can no longer do cool shit like ambushing caravans, harassing gatherers, or even attacking other clans. It's all opt-in, so the other guys can just fucking choose not to participate.

Why the fuck would you play a game like that if you don't like PvP? Why would you not only play it, but force them to change it to PvE?

Because now what you're left with is a PvE game with no PvE except for packs of trash mobs roaming around everywhere like a fucking Korean MMO from 2008.

No I mean that sounds amazing that you have to guard your resource gatherers, protect your trade routes and can possibly turn to being a Highwayman and just taking other people's things.

>To fuck with them? Why else?

Where you one of those kids that went into the woods and tortured small animals for fun?

In the video game we are mere pixels, user. I would never harm a creature of Allah.

Imagine getting so assblasted because someone in Rust ganked you that you begin to equate people who enjoy PvP in a PvP game with sociopathic serial-killer wannabes who torture animals.

>I would never harm a creature of Allah.

Mohammed would though. In fact, he raped 9 year old girls.

carebear

>no PvE except for packs of trash mobs

Just today during a presentation they mentioned
>quests
>missions
>invasions (non player factions will attack your forts)

It has an entire storyline about the three "families" (factions) that inhabit the island.
I mean its probably a shit story but it definitely sounds like theyre putting effort into a half decent pve experience.

It was a pvp game for a pvp focused audience user. People that didn’t want to fight wouldn’t play the game. It was a specialized niche before, it’s going for jack of all trades now.

I never played Rust, or any "survival" game.

I'm assblasted because of the rogue who spawncamped me for 6 straight hours in stranglethorn vale back in 2006.

I'm not Mohammed

opt in pvp is bad, but so is non factional pvp.

open world all that stuff is good if you have strict factional war. make it guild based and it becomes a garbage game and every game to try it has been a gigantic fucking catastrophy. Yet the same retards just forget its already been tried and keep getting hyped over and over again

>open world PvP focused game with territory claims, clan warfare, and all sorts of really cool shit. It was fucking great doing stuff like protecting resource gatherers as we hauled resources between areas to trade or build, or ambushing other players and stealing their shit.
Is all of this gone now? What did they gut and what did they keep?
