I knew people who were legitimately having fun playing the game, who all stopped overnight when they started seeing those mistaken bans come out, and they doubled down by saying "OUR BOT DETECTION AND CHEAT DETECTION IS INFALLIBLE WE'LL NEVER LET YOU APPEAL A BAN"

Whats the endgame?
There are plenty of half decent pokemon MMOs out there, honestly the only pokemon that would have a chance right now would be one that looked like the gameboy games but with modern features.

Indie devs did put out a better pokemon mmo than nintendo could.
It's called pokemmo. And pokemon revolution. and to a much much lesser extent pokeone.

I did beat it with my gf. It was fine. Wholesome visuals, 2v2 combat is infinitely more strategic than 1v1, there are some good dungoens...
... but we beat it few months ago and there's currently no reason to go back. That safari stuff looks like bullshit.

doesn't matter if it's forgotten, it's STILL closer to pokemon than persona. persona is more like pokemon channel, you just sort of watch as things happen and occasionally get to interact.

I'm a fan of pokemmo but I've been playing it since it launched and was just kanto so I guess that's only natural. The balancing on it feels a lot more fair compared to pro where they fucked with the exp curve and pretty much force you to subscribe to progress at a normal rate. my only experience with pokeone was when they were asking high level/ranking pro players to try it out, of which I was one, it was cool, but yeah real barebones.

I don't know about what it's like right now, but at launch the endgame was just breeding, shiny hunting, and catching shit for money. There was no battle facility or any MMO features like an auction house or (automated) player tournaments or something like that. It was all just grinding without clear reason.
Then if you happened to enjoy this grind, bad news for you! They nerfed grinding twice making it incredibly expensive to get into, and since catching things gave you pennies, players looked for alternative solutions to making money. People found one, as there's a rare bird that you could catch in okay quantities in an endgame area and its evolved form would sell for good chunks of cash. Unfortunately they patched this out too, calling it an "exploit" even though it only used intended game mechanics.
shit was pretty bad.

Persona is not in any way shape or form competing with or even remotely comparable to pokemon. devil survivor is much closer. Literally ANY smt game is closer besides persona, because persona is barely a game. It's a VN.
