Yeah. In CoC1 you would only hit one fight/event per exploration and then return to your camp after almost every single one, so you can then go to a completely different biome with different encounters. With how 2 is set up, it's very common to hit multiple encounters before you can move on. Pic related has 8 total npc fights to hit while you're exploring. The northern section has 4 events, the southern section 5, 2 of which are shared with the north, and the lake section has 3, only 1 of which is new. If you can't see how this gets repetitive and boring extremely fast, then you're retarded.

Of the (is it four, or more now?) games my favorite is TiTs just for sheer customization factors, but overall CoC1 is beloved for the base system with simple goal focus that was later expanded. TiTs and all the games after, on other hand, don't really have a set focus and it tends to become more focused on "have to write X fetish character to satisfy Y donor" instead of "hey I wanna do this neat biome with this neat set of characters." Granted CoC1, in later updates fell into this trapping (which unsurprisingly led to its own derivative CoC1 if modes from several authors).
