There was a Dead Island 2? I played the beginning of the first one and it was kinda shitty. I always thought of Dying Light as the second once since it was a much superior game than a sequel would've been anyways.

Stranded Deep is 'technically' fully released, but the devs haven't even released the ending to the game yet. It's on the experimental build and it's a huge copout.
The game had such promise but it entered that typical early access cycle where the vision of the dev team got mixed with community feedback and complaining.
Turned out to be a decidedly average and unimpressive game.

Dying Light 2 is apparently fucked according to a few devs. Iirc they couldn't even produce a vertical slice, and they were originally going to release it this year. Dead Island 2 has also changed hands multiple times and I think they're still claiming it's "in development".
