what the hell is this?

I got filtered by the system requirements

whoever said this was like Thief was a goddamn liar

You didn't just watch an e-celeb play this, did you?

How? It runs on my 7 year old laptop flawlessly. Turn down the dynamic shadows, user.

Fun demo.

thanks i was looking for this to try the demo, but forgot the name past gloom-

I watched based Dave Oshry shitposting about it.

How can people get away with making games this fucking derivative and substanceless?

ahem

FUCK CROWNIGGERS

Fun game. Too easy though, even on hard. Excited for the end product, I'm sure theyll make some adjustments to it

It is like Thief though. Not exactly like it obviously, but saying that it's not obviously heavily inspired by it is retarded.

Actually it is like Thief, as in it stole your money

A game building upon Thief's bones and shamelessly wearing it's poorly repainted skin. It's being made by the same dev/publisher that also made Dusk and Amid Evil so it gets a free pass to rip off a cult classic and have it sold to you for 20 bucks later on. People have been name dropping it anytime a Thief or "immerive Sim" thread shows up, with OP occasionally making this very same thread and trying to be subtle about it. Say anything bad about it or call on it's shit and people will call you autistic and/or schizo because you hate seeing other people have "fun".

But you cant even preorder it yet

Somebody explain the bugsnax meme to me

Rent free

I've been playing Thief Gold.

>first mission is a large, straight forward manor populated by drunken guardsmen
>second mission is set in a haunted mine with skeletons
>have to sneak through tight corridors populated by hammer-wielding fanatics with weird security stations
things escalate quickly

Like clockwork.

Game seems pretty cool. Obviously not like Thief mainly in the fact that it immediately throws you a handful of incredibly effective lethal weapons and sets it up so that you can backstab everyone. Moreover, if there's any kind of benefit to ghosting/penalty to killing they literally did nothing to surface it. The only minor gripe is kind of a style thing. I don't like that the guards don't speak and just make creepy noises in spite of a million notes lying around implying they're just regular ass dudes. Similarly the bird monsters in the sewers are comical looking and not at all scary. The aesthetic overall is cool but a little more character would go a long way.

What I don't understand is why you have such an issue that the game is taking inspiration from Thief. Honestly, name 5 different game franchises which are Thief clones in the same respect Gloomwood is. There's not that many. Yet when it comes to CoD or Dark Souls or Battlefield people just accept it as some norm because it's been done so much.

>t it immediately throws you a handful of incredibly effective lethal weapons and sets it up so that you can backstab everyone
Yeah, that was kind of dumb. I got caught by the bird things in the sewer and was scared for a sec, but they just go down to one shotgun blast apiece. Kinda ruins the horror element.

The main dev says they're working on adding voice acting. I agree about the models too; they have a good concept but need to push it a bit further for it to really work. Sincerely hoping they'll find a good balance between sneaking and killing in a way that doesn't feel stifling (like Dishonored).

>Kinda ruins the horror element.
With guns, I think ammo scarcity is key. Sure, they go down in one shotgun blast, but how many of them are there, and how many shells do you have? It's a question of balance, I guess; the second a survival horror game gives the player too much ammo, it loses itself.

That's true, and they probably put the shotgun and enough ammo in the demo so that people like me don't just die so close to the end of it, but it still seemed off.

Is the ammo issue better on hard? I played through on normal and it seemed like it was easy too plentiful and ended up making it feel too easy.

It gets better. You also can't risk getting whacked by an enemy more than once or so.

It's an early demo, from what I can gather. They'll probably switch things up.

Yes

>It gets better. You also can't risk getting whacked by an enemy more than once or so.
Nice. Overall I think what's there is pretty promising and I think the end product will be much better. They probably just wanted it to be as completable as possible for a demo.
