Why aren't Zelda games allowed to have horror elements in them anymore?
Nintendo already has dozens of family friendly franchises, why does Zelda need to be one too?

They do?
Even WW had some dark shit in it.
OP go watch the trailer to Botw2 and stfu
modern children are liberal pussies
E10+ and its international equivalents are where they make their money. There's no reason to ever go for a T rating.
Zelda has turned into Dora the Explorer. Every Zelda game after Twilight Princess has been a Dora episode.
have you even seen the trailer for BotW 2
Whats so scary about that?
[spoiler[It's only spooky in reverse.[/spoiler]
What were they thinking with the Kakariko Well?
looks like your bracket is in reverse too jhaha
They always do this shit for trailers. They make the tone feel darker and more menacing than the game actually turns out to be. t. fan for like 3 decades
BotW was the first 3D Zelda to just flat out not have any spooky shit in it.
>B-BUT THE LORE!
Reminder.
As fucking baity this image is I'm actually starting to agree with it. Maybe I should stop playing Zelda games.
This one is better.
not really, they just try to make it look epic. Watch BOTW reveal trailer vs BOTW 2 reveal and tell me they have the same tone
When did Zelda turn into Dora?
You might not like it but twilight princess was the last zelda game to actually have some kind of dark element to it.
I heard from an user that the guy that was the soul behind OoT and MM also worked on TP and then got moved somewhere else so this kiddie shit is all we are gonna get from them from now on.
Actually, he didn't. Wind Waker was his last game.
yeah really sucks we'll never have anything close to majora's mask again
Zelda's "horror" stuff has always just been the 2 N64 games having mildly creepy shit in them. For OoT it's mainly due to the well/shadow temple, for MM the deliberately more somber story, and for both to a huge extent the muddy dark ass textures contributing to a darker aesthetic.
People are delusional when they act like it's a series mainstay.
are you talking about koizumi
The forest temple scared me more as a kid with its music youtube.com
To this day that song still makes me feel uncomfortable.

The fact of the matter is that BotW is not even remotely dark compared to the rest of the franchise. Even if you try to downplay the other games' dark elements, there's an obvious contrast there. And no the fact that some people died during the 100 years Link was asleep doesn't make it any darker, it's what's actually depicted on screen that counts. Adventure of Link is easily darker than BotW.
It really comes down to how visually/thematically samey BotW's dungeons are, and the lack of darker areas because of the "open air" meme.
Wind Waker is definitely more cutesy but you can't tell me that the duel with Ganondorf in a flooding sunken city as the water gushes in around you wasn't cool as fuck.
And say what you will about the giant overworld but that ocean genuinely makes me feel like I'm going on an adventure. Helps that there's islands in every coordinate, even if they are small. Unlike Skyward Sword.
>wallmaster
Fucking cunt! Not only scary as fuck, but annoying as hell!
WW happened nearly two decades ago, user.
Wind Waker had an otherwordly feel to it that made it feel like a trip to another dimension. Come to think of it, many video games from that era had that quality.
Playing older 3D Zelda makes me realize how much little quality content BOTW has.
BOTW is just
>go to marker point
>get little quest (go to marker again)
>find the 5 beast activation mechanisms
>fight the elemental ganon scourge
>repeat
Nice a Zelda thread.
I have recently been emulating stuff, so I replayed MM after almost 20 years and had a blast.
Now I am playing WW and it's kinda relieving not being under that dark and oppressive atmosphere anymore. I just enjoy the sailing and exploring the seas; compared to MM it feels like a holiday.
