I'm planning to buy a Vita and instantly put CFW on it. If I downgrade to 3.60 to run a persistent CFW, can it run all games, even those for 3.73+? I remember having some problems on PS3 with not being able to run the newest games with outdated CFW. Also, ANY Vita can be hacked right now, right? Newest slim models with built in storage, etc. Having a hard time finding info about this because all CFW sites are "lol we totally never do piracy".
One more thing, are there any good/bad models, like fucked up analogue sticks or worse quality screens?
The slim version of the Vita (the one with circular instead of oval buttons) has a worse screen quality and isn't OLED, the original Vita's models look much more colourful.
Also Killzone Mercenary is really fun, I'm shocked at how good it looks.
Killzone Mercenary is one of my favorites on the system.

Use yahoo japan and/or buyee if the jap auctionhouse scares you. Get a 1000 model or nothing at all.

For the past 3 weeks I wake up somewhere around at ~5am, 2 hours before my regular waketime, and hear the vita home menu theme. My vita has been off and in a box for months now, it should out of battery. It goes away when I sit up but why is it the same thing every morning? Is this just my life now? If I take out my Vita will it look like the book in Soul Sacrifice?
The slim version has a microUSB port instead of the flimsy proprietary cable, it's more comfortable to hold, and has internal storage so you don't need a proprietary card to get homebrew set up. You'll probably pay more in the long run and have a worse time.

>If I downgrade to 3.60 to run a persistent CFW, can it run all games, even those for 3.73+? yeah, if you're on 3.6 there is a plugin called 0syscall6 that spoofs the system to the latest firmware when you're running any game that requires it. I used it to play the house in fata morgana.
Benjamin Stewart
Yes all games can be played on 3.60. You need a plugin.
The vita2k model has 1gb memory built in. So you can hack it before installing sd2vita without sonys proprietary memory cards. The 1koled needs a memory card.
The oled screen is best, but it isnt a major downgrade if you go for the slim.
Isaac Watson
Does the Vita play all PSP games perfectly?
David Roberts
Yeah, but doesn't play all PS1 games. You need an emulator for that.
Jackson Hernandez
I hate that microusb. I hate it on everything. So flimsy and easy to break. The fat model is more sturdy.
I'd kill for a usbC tho.
Nolan Jones
Don't listen to these lobotomites. Get the slim version. The only problem is that the screen is an LCD panel, but you can get better contrast with a software tweak and make it a bit comparable to the OLED model. It also has many more advantages, like a micro USB port for charging, internal memory to make the hacking process truly permanent, better battery life and is more comfortable thanks to the reduced weight.
3.60's hack is persistent, and you can run any game thanks to plugins (that the guide tells you about).
vita.hacks.guide is your go-to for the process. In that page you'll get info about h-encore, downgrading, Enso, Adrenaline (PSPemu) and the sd2vita requirements (if you plan on using it).
Also, check out PKGj with NoPayStation links configured, makes it a good "freeshop" (although there's missing titles).
microusb sucks but I happen to have 3 billion microb cables and exactly 1 vita cable

There are no models with built in 32gb storage, only 1gb.
Asher Gonzalez
Kind of, yes. It's not really full emulation, as there's part of the SoC which takes care of the PSP's CPU iirc, but some parts of the system are emulated. Still, every game should run. The PSPemu has the PS1 emulator already built-in. No need for 3rd party stuff. Only 1GB on board. Look for prices and condition. You can just grab a 128GB mSD + SD2VITA adapter combo for around 25$ easily on Amazon.
You need to set up homebrew in order for it to see SD2VITA, dunce
Asher Flores
Tbh the lack of L2/R2 buttons almost kills many PS1 games for me.
Gabriel Bell
I guess i misread that somewhere, I read that slim versions have built in instead of proprietary card.
Justin Rodriguez
For the psp emulator bit. The issue is that to get the psp to run psone games NOT downloaded from the store, requires you to use a program that makes it into an eboot. There are some sites that have them pre-made, but its something to look out for.
Otherwise, you'll have to use retroarch. Which is still a strong emulator.
Justin Butler
You mean Adrenaline? Not all ps1 games work, and popstation doesn't work on the vita unlike the psp, so, no. You need an extra to play certain games.
Mason Jones
And OP already stated that they plan on hacking the system, so where's the problem? I'd say that a grip is a must for any PS1/Remote Play shenanigans. As you said, it makes the experience truly awful. They do. The Slim model is the only one with on-board storage. Oh, my mistake. I misread what you meant. Yes, you do need 3rd party stuff for certain games. Still, for most best sellers it works like a charm. I just get the PS1 games I need from PKGj/NPS, really. No need to build anything, but there are games missing.
Any version that you have will easily downgrade to a version that will let you install persistent CFW. And from there the CFW will allow you to spoof later versions (3.73).
This person seems to be misinformed and angry. Once you have CFW installed on your PS Vita it is quite easy to use an SD to Vita adapter so that you are not reliant on the proprietary Sony cards for storage. However in order to install CFW to your PS Vita you have to be able to load files onto it and the only way to do that is via a normal proprietary memory card. The later versions of Vita have a small amount of internal memory that will allow you to not have to rely on the proprietary chip. (Tldr on an original Vita you cannot use sd2vita until it is hacked and you cannot hack it without an official Sony chip)
>so where's the problem? Homebrew needs to be installed on a storage medium. SD2VITA isn't recognized unless homebrew is installed. Where will homebrew be installed?
Ian Lewis
My ps vita has a small rainbow scratch It's really small but it annoys me a lot mostly because it's on the center of the screen Does someone know how to fix it? I don't want to buy a new ps vita on purpose...
Joseph Rogers
downgrade to 3.65, not 3.60. nothing of worth didn't get updated for newer firmwares.
You still seem to be angry and misinformed. sd2vita is an adapter that takes up the game card slot. However unless the Vita is hacked it will not read the adapter and thus provide no storage. And you cannot hack the Vita until you load files onto it, so if you have an original model the only way to do that is via an official Sony card, as otherwise it lacks the capability to copy files to itself.
Mason Perez
Who's on first?
Cameron Baker
>And OP already stated that they plan on hacking the system, so where's the problem? He's saying if you opt for an OLED model instead of a Slim model that you'd need a proprietary memory card to set up the initial hack for the microSD adapter to work in the first place. Since a Slim has a built in 1GB you can use that to set up the hack so no proprietary memory card required.
Jacob Robinson
if he got an original model it does not come with on-board storage capable of allowing you to hack the Vita.
Camden Campbell
that "software tweak" is only available through registry editing despite being fully functional because sony realized it was pointless, because most games didn't account for the OLED colors to begin with. you're just blowing out the colors to look "fun". if you don't turn up the saturation on your TVs and monitors to look like that, don't do it on your vita.
Ryder Moore
>angry and misinformed The only thing even remotely close to "anger" I've stated is that if you get an OLED model you're a fucking retard.
Alexander Rodriguez
Yeah that sounds like pure anger. What exactly is your problem with the OLED model?
