Looking for a controller to use with emulators via the Steam Link. Anybody tried one of these? How's the D-pad?

It's like my hand.
Not as good as the real thing, but better then most alternatives.
I don't trust 8Bitdo products. I had the old version of this controller and it sucks. Not only the dpad, but all the buttons. And it starts to feel the effect of the use extremely fast (few months). I've seen people who share my opinion about the old models saying that this new version that you posted is better, but still not comparable with high quality products.
the fuck are you using your controller for?
I have one and I really like it. It feels like a larger DS4. The D pad feels good to me, though I've never been an autist about that.
>Anybody tried one of these?
yes
>How's the D-pad?
unironically top notch
>I don't trust 8Bitdo products.
>I had the old version of this controller and it sucks.
>I had the old version
XD
I've had it for a couple of months now. Works perfectly with Steam for Linux so it should be good with the Steam Link.
Haven't had any quality issues with it.
>8bitdo
>modeled after 16 bit console's controller
I have been using this one for half a year or so on the Switch and on Steam and there is nothing wrong with it
is there a wired version of this one available?
Not sure but if it's input delay you're worried about, wireless transmission speed is actually really good now.
They're either pretty good or not.
Will I like this if I don't really like how the old SN30 Pro's D-Pad feels?
You can plug it in via USB-C and it's even powered.
It's good. D-pad creaked a bit when I first got it but after a day it stopped
Tbh just get the cheapest Xbox One controller, good for more than just emulators
I've gotten two Xbone controllers, brand new and either I've got shit luck or they don't manufacture these things well. Both have started showing problems after only a couple months of use. I still use them a lot and I like them more than most controllers but man I fucking hate that.
Bump.
That's weird. I got a Xbone1s controller off eBay like 2 years ago and it's still chugging along.
D-pad mis-registers inputs unless you take it apart and use those paper hole reinforcers, look it up.
Also Nintendo layout which means it will be backwards to most games if you care about that.
>8bitdo shit
No thank you. This is the RAID SHADOW LEGENDS of controllers.
Actually garbage but every single hardware youtuber shills it and claims its the best and they always use it privatly (Strangly enough never on any of their later videos?)
The build quality is shit and the dpad is pretty mediocre overall. The thing advertises itself as THE SOLUTION for 2D games but even there its only mediocre and does its job sorta i guess but there certainly are better alternatives even when it comes to third party controllers.
I am unironically using it for over 8 months on both pc and switch even though I have all the other controllers. The best thing is that you can pair it to everything and then just turn the controller on in a specific mode - you don’t need to re-pair it on every boot.
The build quality is good, the dpad is better than any of the current controllers especially pro controller. The grip feels like a bigger ds4 but I won’t say it is the most comfortable. Triggers feel like ds4 and you can tweak their dead zones in the software. Sticks are okay.
The main issue I have with the controller is that after turning it on sticks act weird and you need to twist them around for a few seconds. And on switch you can’t turn the console on from a controller so you need to wake it up first via another controller or a power button.
literally just use a xbox 1 controller
the wired one costs about $30
works with almost every game ever
Don't worry bro, the true savior of controllers is coming to BTFO 8bitdo. In 10 years at this rate
retard. Name a better controller with a better dpad and better build quality with the same compatibility. And for the same price.
Xbox One
That 8bitdo controller is only slightly cheaper than the Switch Pro controller which is expensive as shit
Hardly something i would call "universal"
Lol@you the small dpad is miserable. Build quality is comparable to all the others and isn’t anything special. Though I love ff triggers but they aren’t really used anywhere besides forza. And it also costs almost twice as much as sn30pro+.
>slightly cheaper
How about you order it from chinks on Ali and not from jew resellers? It literally costed me $40 including some shit like a case and mobile phone holder and I think you can but it even cheaper
pic related
>Order from ali chinks
How about no?
Are you seriously retarded enough to buy chink copycat controllers?
I am an user who has gone through trying lots of different controllers. My go-to for 2D emulation is the Hori Fighting Commander. For 3D games it's the DualShock 4 The controller you posted is essentially a DualShock 4, but the D-Pad is slightly lower-quality, as well as the shoulder buttons. DualShock 1 or 2 is probably the best you can get if you're fine with the PlayStation-style D-Pad, or Wii Classic Controller Pro if you don't care about not having rumble.
Spotted an American
Retrobit controllers are nice.
8bitdo is chink shit though. And they have a fuckhuge marketing department which will defend their shitty products anywhere on the internet. Like who the fuck even fanboys a fucking third party controller? A 20 to 30 dollar product.
>D-Pad is slightly lower-quality
Dpad on ds4 is ghosting like hell. Go ahead and try to do fast diagonal inputs consistently or wiggle it left-right without triggering up/down
