most license owners want to keep their brands fresh by pumping out 1 game every year.
The goal of the game is to promote awareness of the manga or show, so it will focus less on interesting gameplay or a solid experience and focus more on having as many characters as possible interacting with each other in different ways, and any storytelling elements in the game will only amount to teasing the player into finishing the rest of the manga.
Outliers to this will usually look at other anime games and follow their lead, so nothing ever changes.
