The game isn't hard, basic enemies only have 1 or 2 animations and bosses have 2 or 3
As long as you attack you have infinite heals
The community piggy backs off each other constantly giving them a feeling of superiority

Back in the day everyone would list Symphony of the Night as the best Metroidvania ever made, now it's this soiboi garbage topping the lists everywhere, it's pissing me off to no end.

Got this for a pittance recently, seems a bit slow and i haven't been in the mood for it yet but people swear it's great.

If you play it without looking up anything be prepared for shit tons of back tracking, not understanding the lore or story, and having little to no idea of where you're supposed to be going

Nobody really like it, it is a big coordinated effort just to spite you op.

You can tell the creator really wants you to think the game is mysterious and hard like Dark Souls

So be prepared to play a Metroidvania, got it.

I played the game for the first time a few weeks ago, was really good. Only real issue I had with it was it dragged on a little too long.

But Hollow Knight is a soiboi filter.

It's fun for the most part, but the last Pantheon can fuck off. Who the hell thought locking critical story endings behind that kind of tedious grind was okay

It's not perfect, but it hits alot of those high notes. I think most people here hate it because it lacks anime waifus, or cinematic JRPG storytelling. if I want to watch a movie, I'll go play Final Fantasy or Xenoblade.

I got it recently on discount. I can explain at least what appeals to me:

>minimalistic art style (not overstylized hot garbage)
>tight controls
>difficulty is enough to avoid being autopilot
>slight customization to make gameplay a bit more interesting
>striking and memorable areas with scores to match them
>don't have to engage with the story if you don't want to
