Give me one good reason why this isn't the best Mario game.

It's zoomershit for zoomtrannies. Fuck zoomcuck.

Its too easy & filler content isn't fun.
As fun as its movement may be, " Make your own fun " and self imposed challenges are never as fun as a game that was actually designed around your character's abilities. I'm almost convinced everything in Mario Odyssey, even Darker Side, was designed for a Mario without Cappy Dive.

I can't. It refines everything previous 3D Marios did and adds a lot of freedom.

>b-but muh 999 moons

Entirely optional, with the big advantage of not forcing you to leave the stage after each finding.

Fantastic music
Beautiful graphics
Perfect fluid controllers
Great atmosphere

All with shitty fucking generic boring fucking level design that's piss easy that never takes advantage of marios move set

Fuck this boring trash

it takes the BotW approach of just adding a million side missions while the main missions are boring and samey

Wagglan

It treats you like a toddler with downs.

Too short, too easy, not enough Luigi.

Oh also captures are shit.
Restrictive power ups aren't fun: Power-Ups should be additive especially when your main character controls as well as Mario: All Captures serve as means to give you a puzzle for babies or an equally easy platform challenge

extremely fucking boring. I dropped this around the lunch kingdom. Sigh. I don't know. I guess I just don't understand the appeal of this shit anymore. The game is so easy, I was playing on auto pilot for the most part.

This.
It's quantity >>> quality

But that ha always been the case for every Mario game ever, you can either follow the intended path, stopping at gaps and taking your time or breezing through the levels.

Because the humans in New Donk City exist.

it's a terrific sandbox, but it is far too easy, a wonderful timesink to take on the go, but pales in comparison to the OG SM64..

Here's your reason bro

Why is this gif in 2 fps

>go through long hard earned quest line
>Moon

>Pick up rock
>Moon

Couldn't even outprogram a 25 year old game on an esoteric system

Could've posted a middling mario like 3d world and it would still be a reason.

Because I made it on my phone, sorry.

>3D World
>Better than anything

3d world is a good game, and is the most consistent of all the 3d mario's.
doesn't reach the highest of highs, but it never dips as low as the other titles.

Wow Odyssey Mario is such a chad.

Better than Odyssey.

Why are these games so brain dead easy now? I feel like the last challenging Mario game I played was Super Mario Sunshine. But maybe that was just because I was a kid back then and a lot stupider. Idk. I feel like you’re better off playing Mario Maker levels or ROM hacks with some hard platforming. At least they’re somewhat interesting

As much as I love the game it’s not really that great, or at the very least doesn’t hold up that well, and I’m not talking about the graphics.

It does dip, a lot, and the highs aren't even high, 100% it with my brother and it never felt good enough but at several points it dragged a lot.

64's movement is still superior. The sideflip and dive mechanics of 64 make movement feel fun, and 64's controls are are tighter, making it feel better when you have an equal grasp of both. Odyssey also suffers from too many moons. The improvements it does bring are good though, I hope ground pound jumps stay in the series. I think worlds that are in between Odyssey's and 64's, with less moons/stars/equivalent but more than 64 would be a good balance. They bumped up the scale of everything in Odyssey too much.

Odyssey is a great game, but if I was going to replay one, more often than not I would choose 64.

Too few levels, too many pointless moons.

It's an incredible fucking game with just the right amount of fan service. Sure some of the moons are braindead easy to get but those are for kids they wanted to make sure everyone could beat the game.

Mario is a game for kids, yes, if you don't like finding ways to break the game you shouldn't be playing them as an adult

>64's movement is still superior.
based

m-m-mathewmatosis

Music isn't that great especially compared to galaxy's orchestra.
The only thing they added to the gameplay was the cap bounce.
There's no point to there being enemies in the game, they just serve as powerups.
There aren't that many worlds and the ones they have aren't that good.
Too many filler moons

Is it worth it for 40€?

Wow, it’s almost as if idle animations wasn’t a priority when making the game. It’s not like the developers are worse than the Mario64 developers because of this one stupid little oversight. You realize this, right? At this point you’re just shitposting

You can't tell me you didn't enjoy Champion's Road.

The fact that you have to capture and flop around as a giant piece of meat seals the deal for me. Based game

the hat

this is literally the worst Mario game I've ever played

The game is more about exploring and finding random hidden stars than concise level design. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it didn't come out in the same year as BOTW, I was pretty much tired of the open world meme by that point.

>64's movement is still superior
How? Even if it was somehow objectively superior, the shitty camera makes it shit compared to later 3D Mario games.

>Give me one good reason why this isn't the best Mario game
because Mario galaxy exists

Didn't say I did not like it though, even if it is the worst Mario, it is still fun.

>zoomer
Keep projecting kid

>pointing out polish and care in a craft is shitposting
No wonder people settle for mediocrity now.

>implying Odyssey is not polished

the way the dive works in 64 is better than Odyssey's SNAP whenever you do it, 64's feels much more like a fluid movement from the jump or run you were doing. Everything in Odyssey feels a lot more rigid.
I won't deny 64's camera is bad, but it's never hindered me so much the actively make the experience bad, just a little annoying. I started speedrunning the game (casually, not autistically grinding for 4 hours every day) and I barely even notice the camera issues anymore because I'm so used to working with it. A free camera is better, but when you understand that 64's is limited and work with what you have instead of trying to get it to do what it can't, the game plays extremely smooth even today.

everyone is very impressed.

feels unfocused due to the large amount of moons. a good amount of them feel like they were thrown in with little thought in comparison to one's that you have to actually platform to get.
there's also a severe lack of platforming in the game, especially when you're coming from the course based games, which were pretty much filled to the brim with platforming.
great controls, camera, movement, and presentation, but it needs to cut down on the amount of moons for the next one, and have each of them more focused on platforming, and exploration happening at the same time, instead of the former existing in a completely seperate ministage without even being connected to the exploration most of the time.

If I thought it was I probably wouldn't have dropped it. The moment I took control of the T-Rex I knew this wasn't up to Nintendo's usual standards.
