I’m a retard and don’t know much about hardware or electronics, so let me be an example: I would assume that the Xbox Series X is as big as it is because because every bit of space is needed to fit the technology that’s required to run the game at its power. Cutting the Xbox Series X in half would mean half of what was required for the Xbox Series X would be gone, therefore it won’t have all of the fancy things required to make it run at the same power. At first I thought it could be possible that the original Xbox Series X was as big as it was because of the disc drive, and with its removal a “smaller” Xbox Series X with all of the same fancy tools would be possible, but the fact that the PS5 and the digital PS5 are essentially the exact same size disproves that in my eyes.

Again, I’m not saying that any of this is true at all, I’m just expressing my point of view as someone who knows nothing regarding hardware and the technology behind it.

I see what you're saying but historically it hasn't really worked out this way. The disc drive is really the only thing that's saving major space if you removed it. Everything else is going to be the same unless they go back to the drawing board and redesign the processor, etc. Same reason when generations of GPUs and CPUs come out the actual die size is the same across the xx60 xx70 xx80 xx00k whatever.

I actually read the comment wrong. I was reading it as next gen not holding anything back for pc which is not true when really he meant this gen not holding anything back for next gen since there won’t be a great leap in technology.
