it has tons of flaws but it isn't the garbage heap that this board makes it out to be, and the recent DLC is actually pretty good

last year I started playing through the 3ds games as I had skipped over them, and replaying some of the older gens. I thought x and y were pretty fun despite being bland, they had some nice areas like the swamp. oras just made me depressed though, it was such a pain for me to finish and I didn't even touch the post game. are sun and moon at least better than oras? they seem like they do some interesting new things.

it is mostly because kanto and johto are garbage regions, atleast hoenn and sinnoh are fun to explore

I've played every gen and V is probably my least favorite
I thought the region was really lacking, even though I really like a lot of the pokemon designs
the story was also way too heavy handed and "deep" for my tastes. felt like a teen novel instead of a lighthearted adventure
I got through Elesa's gym in B2 and then just dropped it completely because it all felt the same
honestly, it's probably all because I played so much gen IV that I got burned out just in time for gen V
I'm sure some people share some of those same opinions. Gen V definitely is the series' peak as far as quality of actual game content though

Nah. The reason why people hated BW was because it forced you to use only the new pokemon until you beat the game. Plus the starters sucked.
Personally, I actually liked only have the new pokemon. It diversified the region, had nice flavor, and it was nice to not be forced to face a deluge of zubats, geodudes, and tentacools again.
