Look Zig Forums, Ellie doesn't just let Abby leave because "revenge bad, mkay?". She realizes in that moment that Joel really deserved to die for what he did in the first game. He killed a lot of people, Abby's dad included and for what? So one girl can live? If you watch the ending cutscene Ellie herself says something like "My life would have mattered if you let me die back there and you took that from me". He saved her for his own selfish reason, directly killed the fireflies for it and doomed countless more by not finding the cure. Abby deserved her revenge, Ellie does not. That's what the game is trying to say. We like Joel because we understand his trauma, but he is objectively in the wrong.
Also she literally had to cut Abby down from a Crucifixion to get her revenge, which makes the act even more hollow. All in all not surprised that it went over your retarded heads LMAO

There are several items and scenes in the game which explicitly state the fireflies are a borderline functionally retarded paramilitary outfit of misfit incompetents who are using the existence of ellie as a justification for their continued sublimation of their identities within the group.

you are a fucking retard. the fireflies have been shown to be incompetent retards who have killed every attempt at a cure so far. there is no reason they would have succeeded with ellie. and even if you think ellie should have been used to find a cure, there is nothing in the game that says outright killing her right away, without even fucking asking her if she wants to do it, is the right way to go about it. she should have been studied for months with killing her the absolute last resort.
even if you ignore all the evidence showing the fireflies had no means to make a cure and you think ellie should have been used to find a cure, why is immediately killing her, very likely ruining any chance at a cure if they mess anything up and thus dooming the human race, any different than joel's decision then?
for the plot to even make an ounce of sense in last of us 2 you have to twist the facts to make joel look bad with his decision because otherwise he obviously made the correct choice and there is no justification whatsoever for anything abby did. it is absolutely fucking retarded and you are too. druckmann wanted his stupid plot about revenge and had to outright retcon the last game to justify his story. but it only reveals what a fucking hack he is.
