As much as I like historical, fantasy setting looks like the way to go forward with total war games unless there is some complete overhaul of game mechanics and I mean serious overhaul. Why bother with your generals if you know they are gonna get shot at the beginning of the game? Why risking a huge morale hit when their capabilities are so limited? Something like unidentified units at the start of the match that require you to do some recon and skirmishing, line of sight that actually make sense (rank and files concealing numbers) or disguising units would be good additions AND were actually used historically.
