User rewiews doesnt count because incels are just attacking the game
I'll just be glad when everyone shuts the fuck up about this, fuck movie games
It never surprises me how many devs, and particular how many lead directors and writers basically just want to make movies and conceive of games as basically interactive movies.
Which is ironic considering guys who very explicitly draw from cinema as their main source of inspiration (like kojumbo and swery) end up creating experiences that use the gaming medium's unique advantages far more effectively than devs who, ostensibly, want to raise the gaming art form up.
There's a real trend in AAA western games of creating really compelling and even complex stories in the cutscenes and then conveying NONE of that character development or plot complexity or thematic resonance through the gameplay.
TLOU1's story was a compelling, albeit pretty standard story about how people form in-groups and distance themselves from those they perceive as outsiders. And then you have the gameplay, which is just action-survival gameplay ala RE4 (albeit more polished).
The two halves are like oil and water
Real opinion, not shitposting: the first third of the game with the Ellie segments was actually pretty good.
Abby's segment and onward, however, is where the game nosedives in quality.
If the game just ended with Ellie's segment it would have been an infinitely better experience.
Expect it to be the flavor of the month, it's definitely gonna keep getting threads. Least it's killing Smash threads.
>gay sex is masterpiece
fug, I hate this world
you know what, seeing conservative gamers get triggers is pretty funny.
>conservative gamers
So anyone who thinks this is bad writing is a conservative? You're a fucking retard.
not just incels, normies too :)

This is gonna be The Last Jedi of this board, ironic shilling in full force. Yikes.
whoa calm down sis, no need to seethe so much
Only when the West does it! (game journos)
Only when Japan does it! (real gamers)
The story is what naughty dog says matters, there is no fucking game
Remember all those cucks gloating about the 95 MC journocuck score yesterday? lol
Surprised about the Gamefaqs score, considering that play is even more of a Sony fanboy haven than Zig Forums and Gaf combined
you know a game is a masterpiece when it causes this much of a shitstorm
Aaaan the professional consensus is a 10/10...
GEE.. Who should I believe? And idiot with a keyboard or someone who has dedicated their life to the study of video game as an art form?
It boggles one's mind!
If they just threw in some nonlinear choices it couldve turned out fine. Instead you get this trainwreck of an ending that makes no sense combined with the rest of the game
no one really buys TLOU-type gamaes for the gameplay, right? It's not like it's a fucking FromSoft game where you have to play it to actually judge the game for itself, but even then you can make a good assessment of how it truly is from watching other people play it.
Actually you don't
Trusting yourself is the first step towards recovery
It has been like that since 2018
Witcher 3 didn't cause a shitstorm like this.
>game
At least Kojimbo bothers to nail the gameplay. Each MGS title added pretty good gameplay mechanics (except for arguably MGSV).
being unironically a contrarian still doesn't change the fact you're gay. no need to reply to my post
Shut up you unironic cuck
This is one of the most polished games that i have ever seen or played. Let it be the graphics, combat animations or the cutscenes, everything is so well made that you'd forget it is a game. So gameplay wise its really breathtaking.
Now the story, i wouldnt say it's good or bad. The only thing i'd say is it depends on the perspective.
I agree that initially i hated the story and stopped playing it after the first few hours. But later on, when i thought and talked to myself about why did that happened. I realized that its actually was a good point. The story takes you to unexpected directions. Dont listen to people who say this game is trash. You must try it for yourself and see what the game's about. There are past-future parts in the story and because of that you must first play the game from start to end in order to see the whole picture. I too had a bad impression in the beginning but by the end, i realised that its a mind-blowing story and as you progress you'd question yourself whether the ones you loved and cared about were right about their cause or not and whether Joel's decision was the right one.
Just make a fucking movie lol
both are irredeemable garbage
Where are the Metacritic user reviews?
>Playing a moviegame
Journo's are biased. They can't be as honest as they like because of the risk of getting cut off from early review copies of games and interviews with devs. They're all racing to get their reviews out first because the first review always gets the most clicks. It all boils down to money, which is why you shouldn't trust early reviews. Post release reviews by people who have to buy the games themselves are more honest, because there's no special relationship at risk with the devs/publishers.

It's painfully below average
j schierier didnt even get a copy of TLOU2 despite working at a big news place now because he reported on ND's horrible work conditions. No reviewer would risk losing their access to early copies of games to review.
The problem is that the insanely polished animations, acting, and environments are just distractions from gameplay that is just TLOU1 + stun animations. The gameplay wasn't revolutionary or innovative then and it's even less so now. Hell even most of the gameplay is just find the object that triggers the voice lines they require you to hear before entering the next conversation room.
No matter how you try to spin it, the story is objectively trash
>Dont listen to people who say this game is trash. You must try it for yourself and see what the game's about.
That would require buying the game, something I do not want to do. I'd rather watch someone stream it, because that's free and I'll be able to eke out some fun shitting on it in chat.
