-Game is gorgeous. it's imperceptible when it switches between cutscenes and gameplay.
-The sound is good.
-The voice acting is good. Especially Joel (Troy Baker).
-You can customize the difficulty to fit your specific playstyle - a nice touch.

- Hollow characters
- Plot holes in story line
- Out of character actions
- Janky gameplay
- Addition of dodge mechanic feels forced and bad
- Mocap used here creates and uncanny valley effect and certain emotions appear very strange looking on character faces

- Did I mention unlikeable characters?
- Did I mention hollow characters?
- Repetitive gameplay
- All of the zombies have the same scalp model BAKA

The biggest con is the story. l'm not upset that they had a heavy, unsettling, surprising storyline. In fact, that can be fun and interesting and thought provoking. The the characters and backstory are so unlikeable that you can't empathize with their reasoning. The result of that is just feeling (as the player) frustrated and betrayed. I didn't enjoy the gameplay and I didn't enjoy the story and I didn't empathize or feel connected to any of the characters or their motivations. It's a bad game.

Because it's disrespectful towards the character and the players, since their game choices meant nothing in the end and he dies like a bitch, whacked by a tranny and spat on by a junkie mutt like he was some underaged narcos courier. There are instances where in the sequel of a series we play the character chosen to kill the protagonist from the previous title, like prototype, but in that instance you have a proper boss fight in the end and Alex dies in a badass way. And still the game was met with scepticism, because so many rooted for him and now they were forced to impersonate a grumpy nigger. In the case of tlou2 it's downright insulting

It was and that’s why it was overrated. There was almost nothing original in TLOU. The well written characters were its main appeal, and the main differentiating factor was its ending which threw everyone for a loop.

I don’t understand how it makes he story bad though, or the game. I’m playing it right now gameplay is same as before so the complain basically is “the story didn’t go down at all like I wanted to and it wasn’t satisfying for me”. But I don’t see how that makes a story objectively bad.

Wuthering Heights comes to mind, every single character in that series is a piece of shit unlikeable character, but it’s still a terrific piece of art and required literature so pardon me if I don’t quite get the complaints about the games story.

Honestly, I'm enjoying the let's plays more than I enjoyed my playthrough. At least the commentary is funny.

If you have a Switch and you like turn based, story-heavy games, then I really recommend Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I picked the game up for $60 which fucking sucked at the time, but I have over 120 hours in it now so I can't really complain. Also you get to date cute girls/boys.

I'm fine with Joel being killed and honestly from a narrative standpoint it should've been obvious it would happen in any version of a sequel. Anyone feel this game rings kinda hollow? Every time I got to a flashback with Joel and Ellie I couldn't help but smile and enjoy myself thinking how "right" it was, but anytime I play a section with nuEllie or Abbstrong I couldn't find any fun.

I likewise highly recommend FE3H. I also recommend Xenoblade. Pretty much any Xenoblade though the voice direction in 2 isn't the best at times, the story is still great even if it doesn't hold a candle to the original which has a very nice improved version now.
