Does the nostalgia ever come back? Gaming just seems to vacant and dead to me now.

When I was a kid, I played lots of unreal tournament and tribes. the community was strong and i had friends that felt like home. These games died so I moved to games like BF2. I must have played thousands of hours on strike at karkand.

2011, I remember BF3 being released and it felt like the greatest thing ever for pc gaming. It was for the most part and I spent years playing it until my PC couldn't play it anymore. BF4 released and I just didn't want to play it.

I tried to fill the game with games like Firefall, Dirty Bomb, RS6, Tribes Ascend. Even gave csgo a few hundred hours.

But none of these games I found my 'group'. All of my old friends stopped playing. BF1 was decent but I didn't enjoy it

I moved to ArmA 2 and played a lot of modded servers. My passion for gaming was reignited. I had so many games to choose from. Arma 3 was fun and I played alot of life RPG games to socialize with people.

I took a break for 4 years. Did some military time. During this I watched games like PUBG and Fortnite take over. I didn't like it at all. I finally just rebuilt a pc and here I am .. just disappointed. All the FPS games suck. The best one out there is CoD Modern Warfare but even then there's no point playing it because it's going to be replaced soon. Is a 8v8 TDM game so much to ask for .. is that genre just dead?

No, now get a job, pay tax and start a family so your kids can continue the cycle

how can your pc not play a game anymore?

I remember it having shit maps. It felt very mediocre coming off BF2/2142.

Basically. Things change. I used to have lots of fun with PvP FPS games but I don't anymore. That doesn't mean all games are bad, I just play other genres.

I rebuilt one. went from a 560 ti to a 2070 s
:(
I agree. Caspian border was just sniping. Same with Firestorm Metro was CoD. Seine was pretty fun but I mostly played Noshar Canals.

Naw, the emphasis these days is on e-sports trash and cartoon graphics. Just play old games like the rest of us do

been revving up old games and it's just sad to see dead servers

don't expect another battlefield like 2 ever again

Sadly this. It's a hard truth but that time is gone.

There are no more "groups". There are people who start a new game to try and find the fun, and there are trend chasing children in forms both physical and mental who play the game to be like Shroud. There will never be a time again where meta isn't king, and where people who just want to have fun are the vast majority. Games can't just function, fuck they barely even need to; they just need to be e-sports ready or else the man with high numbers won't give you free marketing. The internet has unironically both elevated and murdered online gaming in just over a single console generation, and we will NEVER get it back.

Video games are made for children. Be glad you grew up and stop desperately clinging on to something that won't come back.

Squad is pretty much just BF2PR

You grew up. Kids find games more fun than adults, that's all there is to it.

who the fuck is shroud?

A number on a screen that means more to publishers than your wishes for a good video game ever will again.

There are still groups, but good luck getting into one without using d*scord. Between that dump and centralized matchmaking, it's impossible to actually meet strangers through games anymore.

play bf4, its good

some people think it's the face of jesus, but others believe it's just an italian painting from the middle ages

I remember that I made so many friends through gamespy arcade
I miss them all.

idk what happened - do they not think of us?

Definitely

Might as well just play PR if he wants BF2 nostalgia. Squad sucks a fat one and has no soul.

what about insurgency?

Which one?

fag

The one without the vagina soldiers

I found my group in Hell Let Loose. One of the community clans. I suppose that you really appreciate it only after it's gone, so it doesn't feel like much right now, but if I just think that one day this group of mine will be gone, fuck. That hurts.

Still good, especially if you enjoy modding the shit out of everything.

You just have to give up and find new hobbies, there's no going back. I'm just here for the tlou memes

Its not fair.

>no one still hasn't made an improved, modern spiritual successor to vanilla BF2
Fucking do it, I'm tired of seeing DICE and the awful current BF audience butchering the series.

god damn i had so much fun with 3. i played 2 and liked it, but man i absolutely loved BF3. can't tell you how many hours i sank into it, i loved doing everything you could do in the game. driving vehicles, gunning in them, squad play to PTFO with different classes and loadouts, mindless metro spam. my favorite thing was to take vehicles nobody would normally take and then use them to go on massive killstreaks, what i did with transport chopper and amtrac nobody else ever did. i wish i could go back and do it again, but the few servers that are up now are just instant vehicle respawn 24/7 maps and BF was never meant to be played like that.

bf4's netcode was shit, you didnt miss out on much. it was actually so bad it caused DICE to create another studio just to fix it, which is hilarious because they didnt bother applying those fixes to hardline.

I'm starting to think that good map designers don't exist anymore for that kind of game
