ive come full circle and realized people dont have valid criticisms against the game aside from abby being ugly and lev being forced

other than that, nearly every other decision is fine and is even a really sensible way for the story to go. Joel deserved comeuppance, having him be killed by such a seemingly unrelated force is honestly great, what are we supposed to empathize with this selfish old man who doomed humanity? Leave it to people that play games to throw a temper tantrum when a character they like dies in a way that isnt some sort of heroic sacrifice

story is insufferable but the game is fun to play.
I am a sucker anyway for survival horror gameplay and playing on the highest difficulty its fun.

I'd have liked if it was like Kat in Reach where he just gets sniped by Abby out of nowhere, that'd be more believable than just allowing himself to get beat to death while Ellie gives away her chance to save him by running in blind.

basic summary for why joel ended up like he did and why it made complete sense

dude lost his daughter right when the outbreak happened in a horrific way and you can tell he never really got over it

meets ellie and he basically has a daughter again, teaching her things, keeping her safe etc

ellie is found to be immune and a group wants to make a cure out of her

they attain her and are basically about to kill her to create a cure but joel kills the surgeon and razes the fucking hospital

he escape with ellie and lies to her that they couldn't do the procedure and not to worry about it

Abby, the ugly buff woman, was the surgeons daughter. She had to deal with Joel killing her father AND dooming humanity. Joel is a selfish stupid cunt in the eyes of Abby. Abby takes her revenge and kills joel, then Ellie tries to take revenge and in process kills many of abby's friends, this starts a viscous cycle that ends with the two letting the other go two times when each has the upper hand near the end of the game, ending with ellie letting abby go.
