saving my crpg juice for bg3 early access cause i'll play a ton of that
Guys please, stop shitposting about tlou.
I actually started this a few days ago
Got to the part where Morte gets skullnapped
>Morte gets skullnapped
Don't try to fight the skullman.
How do you like it so far
If we go by the writing, which is arguably the only important thing in a CRPG, then it's PST hands down, but overall, I would say Arcanum.
I really like the world and bizarre characters and interactions you can get.
I just figured out you could pause and issue out orders to party members, so before that I was just praying and spam healing via the menu for combat. I'm doing a mage for my Nameless One and I'm just now getting enough spells to really fuck shit up
I'm now on the second map of Divinity Original Sin 1. I don't get the complaints about the games' jokes. It's whimsical fun, and it's honestly refreshing from all the grimdark edgy seriousness that the RPG genre has moved to. It's actually quite similar to some of the older games like Quest for Glory or even Knights of Xentar.
I'd like to thank that user who convinced me to play DOS1 and not to immediately skip to DOS2.
I hope you're not tired of combat because it's what you'll be doing for the last 3rd or 4th of the game.
>mage
patrician choice, you will get most story and lore out of it.
Did you get revive from Deionarra?
That's mandatory desu
Anyone here play Demonheart: Hunters?
Popped up in my feed and looks interesting but I’ve seen no one really speak of it.
I’m playing the same game but not nearly that far
I’m new to this whole genre if you can call that but it’s been fun so far
I like grimdark shit but it is preeety refereshing or at least so far
Pic unrelated
Just started underrail, really wanna play expedition vikins afterwards.
Planescape is the only CRPG I've played, but it's one of my all time favorites now. I'm playing Witcher 1 now, which I guess isn't a CRPG, but after that I'll probably try out Fallout or Baldur's Gate.
I like using my spells so it'll be fine
Yeah I did, though I had a few false starts until I decided on mage. I got cursed by her in one of them because I pissed her off lol
>Yeah I did, though I had a few false starts until I decided on mage. I got cursed by her in one of them because I pissed her off lol
Also a friendly reminder because people tend to not do that... Go back to Pharod and get the orb
Going through Torment: Tides of Numenara now, first game since planescape where I have no idea what to expect from the setting. Such a breath of fresh air from generic Tolkien inspired fantasy.
>underrail
Question for people that have it
Does the Steam version take a while to boot up?
I bought it on GOG because half off and it always takes several literal fucking minutes to start after the Underrail screen pops up
My favorite part was in the sensate part of town. Some really cool shit there. Learning about your past selves. Paranoid and practical are awesome.
Hope you're maxing wisdom and intelligence bro.
I noticed when the first loading pops up, it takes about 20-30 seconds before the game boots up, but that might be because I'm using an HDD.
I remember trying it before and that wasn't the case, so maybe the dev fucked something up in an update.
Takes longer for that to me but at least now I know I’m not the only one it’s fucky with
Noted, I'll go back for it.
I spent a lot of time in the intellectual whorehouse and did all the sensate experiences, good shit.
Music is top notch but I hear they butchered the game with some gay shit.
Keep me updated
I played that game recenly, the UI is aweful desu, combat was shit, the rest was serviceable though.
What are your top 10 CRPGs Zig Forums?
I'm on my 5th game of Arcanum. Trying a bunch of different builds.
It's been years since I played. You should be able to talk to dead people by now.
Remember any times you were surrounded by dead people? Might want to consider retracing your steps.
>Knights of Xentar
This was such a great game, and I go back and try to play it sometimes, but it just isn't the same without the voice overs, which were on the cd and most rips don't have it. It sucks, because it's fucking hilarious. The guy that did Desmond sounds like a huge tool, but it makes the game so funny.
Oh shit, good looking out. Didn't even think about that.
Also consider fucking with Dakkons bible. The smarter you are the more you can fuck with it.
I didn't even realize you could do that
It seems to have a lot of replay value similar to Planescape, for example if you're a cypher (basically a psyker) you can take a feat to read people's minds and what they're thinking, and almost every character you can get further insight into and even break quest lines by just ripping thoughts out of their heads. Or relics that let you go back in time and change the game world depending on decisions made in the past. Varied skill checks and attribute checks absolutely everywhere like in the old games.
you won't get anything close to planescape. the closest you'll find in KotOR2, also made by avellone, or mask of the betrayer (but this game is nearly unplayable because of the engine and dreadful camera)
You can talk to all of your party members. Its actually incredibly useful to do so.
This wont make sense now and theres a decent chance you'll miss him anyway. But if you happen to be talking to a giant suit of armor obsessed with JUSTICE and are thinking of making him a party member. For the love of God save before you chat him up.
That game to me has a lot of Dune influence in it, which is awesome.
>21 fucking years
>still nothing beats PS:T
What do we even live for?
Games are just getting worse.
Just started Original Sin 2.
Bit overwhelmed by the pixelhunt-like nature of the environmens desu. Can I just ignore most of them or will I miss important stuff if I don't go full OCD?
For me, top 5 is
>Fallout
>Planescape Torment
>Arcanum
>Jagged Alliance 2
>Divinity Original Sin 1
How do you enjoy these games casually? I feel like i am constantly stopping to google tips and help and builds and whatnot. Idk why but im so stressed playing baldurs gate.
Anyways, any tips for an inquisitor?
It's time for the scheduled question, bros.
What can change the nature of a man?
I don't have 10 favorites because there's barely 5 good ones. But mine are
>KotOR2
>Planescape Torment
>BG2
>Temple of Elemental Evil
that's it.
It's been like 7 or 8 years since I played planescape. Do you think that's enough time to get a taste of what it was like playing it for the first time again?
I backed out of buying that game because the devs backpedaled on a lot of kickstarter promises
Tell me if its worth my time user
Tip #1: hold onto the golden pantaloons.
it isn't.
If you liked planescape, it will scratch that itch of "weird ass world full of mysterious/grim things." The combat isn't very good but like Planescape you can bypass most fights with skill checks/clever use of the enviroment.
I don't feel bad googling character builds, it's way too easy to fuck yourself by doing it wrong. Customize it on another playthrough.
Right on fucking time. I got Planescape Torment yesterday and want to play it. Any advice or guides on what the options menu for most things does? Specifically in terms of gameply, I know they're already explained in the tooltips but not all of them are entirely useful in understanding what actually changes and how. Don't have experience with CRPG's but want to learn and Planescape got me interested the most. Also I know that wisdom, intelligence, charisma are the most important for dialogue, but on a first run should I spread the initial points equally among them or just dump as much as possible in wisdom and level up the rest after?
It's a very unique and fun game. The lewd parts are just icing on the whole game which is great. Shame, I can't find any with the voice overs either.
What a well thought out and eloquent post.
I mean, there's nothing to say. Numenera has no coherent story, no good companions, no good villains or quests, atrocious drawn out writing with an overuse of adjectives.
If you want an alien world, I guess it might entertain you for 2 hours.
I found one for OS X that has the voiceovers supposedly, but now I gotta find an emulator, so I'm sure it's going to be a huge pain in the ass to get working.
Planescape isnt very fun if you want to kill things and have combat. Almost everything in the game can talk to you and has interesting shit to say.
Literally the only thing you have to kill is the first zombie you wake up next to. And you can push your stats past 18, and I highly encourage you to do that.
Just started pathfinder
Can somebody tell what Im supposed to do when I think someone I can't talk to and the game goes SSSCCHHHWWWWMM and tells me some cryptic shit. Can I not interact with them at all?
It absolutely has a coherent story, did you even play the game? Just like planescape torment you have to wander around and pick up the trail to it.
>I think someone I can't talk to and the game goes SSSCCHHHWWWWMM and tells me some cryptic shit
what?
Is there anything I need to know about BG2 lore, game play/guides to not have a bad experience or can I go in blind, this is coming from someone who usually only plays first person rpgs
> Arcanum
Patrician taste. Oldfag approved.
It's not. The story ends on gotcha moment and all the buildup and hype ends up being for nothing. It's not just anti climactic it's offensive.
What I liked about DOS1 is the inspiration it got from Ultima 7, letting you interact with the environment and with so many objects too. The game is so exploitable that cheesing some battles feels like half the fun just like teleporting heavy objects or pick pocketing almost every NPC and enemy. There are also some twists in the story that I honestly didn't expect like Jake being a sourcerer
Playing BGT, just got to chapter "8". Taking a break from saving the area and instead got myself shipwrecked on an island
After you get your powers at the temple, in the first village there are certain named people I click on and the games goes all red and starts telling me shit (I think about their past)
If you never played, pick a class / race that interest you and then look up what stats you should get not to utterly fuck yourself over. Apart from that, start with BG 1 and have fun
You should play the first game first. You can directly import your character into the next game and then also into the expansion, throne of bhall.
You can either use mods to make bg1 play just like bg2 or get the official remaster whatever thats on steam.
FALLOUT 2 BABY.
