We are currently in absolute peak prequel nostalgia territory. It will not get better than this. It's a few more years of love for them, and then they start getting pushed to the side by the kiddies that grew up on the DT. If they had any brains, they'd release a new podracer now to capitalize on the market

They released the PC port of the original on GOG not too long ago. I don't know it this is a difference between the PC and N64 versions, but when I replayed it the AI seemed braindead easy. Maybe they get better the further you progress in the campaign, but after a few races of easily lapping everyone else I lost interest.
