NO, they should apologise for even conceiving of that goddawful idea.

Now that it is fixed I will buy your game and rawdog Shadowheart.

spbp, the fact they even considered it was retarded holy fuck.

larian tries really hard. love em.

>all of Divinity 2s sandbox gameplay but:
>D&D rules force larian to abandon their shitty armor system, % based hit chances are back
>rewritten dialouge
>lots of vertical level design

its going to be fucking great

trying hard and still producing dog shit just makes you look incredibly incompetent

cope. dos2 was a hit. everyone liked it

>third person writing
examples?

*user pointed out to user to check watch the first gameplay videos of bg3 on youtube for an example of third-person writing*

*boops you on the nose*
*teleports behind you*
*unsheathes dual katanas*
*tells you it's nothing personnel kid*

Does it still have a voiced protag? Remains in the trash if so.

yeah it sucked really bad

Are you retarded? That was clearly WotC's idea.
That's how their stuff is written.

looked comfy and the mocap and voice acting for some npcs and characters was quite nice

didn't really like combat system though, wasn't baldurs gate real-time "action" oriented like diablo. They should probably go back to that system and make it more real-time, combined with the new features like stealth and choices

It's voiced only if you play an origin characters. Custom chara are not.

Give me atleast 24 Companions like in Baldurs Gate 1. and dont tell me shit like "Wahh that would require too much writing, animations and stuff" you bitches have more money than Bioware at the time of BG1's development.

I think the turn based system is better for D&D, both for faithfulness and complexity of combat.

I have some high hopes that it's going to be good in terms of gameplay mechanics.

Larian, however, is bad at telling stories. They don't know how to pace things: They up the stakes far too quickly. Baldur's Gate ended up in some pretty fantastical places with high stakes, but it took a while to get there. It knew how to take things slow, bringing you from a low-level adventurer with a plot hook fleeing from wild animals, to dealing with local political intrigue, to dealing with more fantastic magical situations and locations, to finally battling weird and wondrous creatures across different dimensions regularly.

Larian just CANNOT stop themselves from blowing their load a few hours in to their stories, and in the end it makes everything feel more shallow and less satisfying.

It's 5e, what complexity?

I still don't trust it.

Nice.

That will never happen again because everyone is convinced that having 300 hours of voiced dialog where they detail every minute of their life up to that point is what makes a party member "good". Or so the writer can jack off all over you in the case of Chris Avellone characters.

BG was real time with pause.

I was a big fan of real time with pause for a long time. But after a while, I realized that for games like this, turn based is just better. It lets you take advantage of things like the environment more, take advantage of various game mechanics more, and - probably what doomed RTWP completely, desu - it's easier to play with friends.

For context, leading up to Larian getting the BG3 contract, there was another game whose developers produced something that was much more similar to the original BG, in terms of mechanics. Pillars of Eternity was RTWP, as opposed to D:OS2, made by Larian, which was turn based. But D:OS2 massively outsold Pillars of Eternity, and one of the reasons for it was that turn-based combat was just easier for streamers to coordinate when playing in a group and so it got a lot more streamers giving it free advertisement. RTWP is just dogshit when playing with a group of people.

when you talk to your companions, shadowheart in this example she has voiced dialogue responses, but if you take control of Shadowheart and talk to other NPC's, she doesnt voice the questions.

so it may just be that those lines havent been voiced yet, which makes a lot of sense because they redid all of the dialogue as OP mentioned.

>Check RPGCodex to see what they think of it
>They're seething as usual
>Someone asks them what they don't like
>None of them are able to come up with any answers

Same. I'm hoping it's good but I don't trust it one bit. I hope people have fun with it, though. I don't want it specifically to fail but i'm thinking it is probably not for me atm.

Yeah, from the first half hour (or more) it looks like it's le epicc adventure from the beginning

Do any developers still post there? That was the only redeeming feature that site has ever had.

Would probably have better luck on reddit and discord - and i'm not doing a hate meme

Sorry shill, still not going to bother with this garbage D:OS2 reskin, fuck waffleniggers.

I don't think any devs from any major companies still post there, no.

>fuck waffleniggers.
>t.congolian

There are definite benefits to TB and I like TB games. One thing I think RTWP does better though is trash fights. I see some people complain about trash fights, but I don't think they understand how trash fights give you the feeling of power, which is an essential part of the adventure feeling. It's not an immediately obvious thing so I don't necessarily blame them, but it's something that becomes more obvious when it's not there. TB makes trash fights much more of a slow slog, which is a downside.

I always loved the hoth rebels.

terrorist hotbed non-nation

It's still turn based trash. Lucky for us Pathfinder 2 will fix this and give us the chad RtwP.

When I search everything says ALL characters are full voiced.
>You’ll even get full voice acting for custom characters. Larian founder Swen Vincke says “you’ll choose a voice as part of character creation – and your character will be fully voiced, not just for barks!”

like i said, you can see it in the demo footage, when the player is asking questions he doesnt say anything, same deal for the voiced companions when they are controlled and ask questions.

considering they just redid all the dialogue, it made a lot of sense it wasnt voiced yet, but will be come launch.

Thanks, I was just curious though. I haven't been bothered to check the site for literally years at this point.
It's a shame so many developers are moving to discord ahead of forums. I can understand why but it makes searching for info an absolute nightmare.

Thanks user, can't say I'm surprised. Rip in pieces

Honestly I always just assumed that was just for the first chapter since it was the past tense
But if the whole game really was going to be like that then yes that's a huge improvment

why is this bad exactly?

Kek, I'm on the opposite end. I only became interested in Pathfinder when I heard of the turn-based mod.

It's almost as if the game is in an unfinished state... Woah...

I won't, I think it sucks. I think devs should make the game they want to make and pay no regard to retards on the internet

Yeah. Pillars of Eternity 2 actually had a patch that allowed an optional turn-based conversion from rtwp. And one of the (many many) things that made it a mess was that you simply cannot plan encounters for turn-based the same way you plan encounters for RTWP. There really is no such thing as a "quick battle" in turn based, and as a result, you have to put a lot more thought into each battle you launch players into to keep things interesting. (Which to be fair, Larian did pretty well in D:OS2).

To give you a feeling of power, you could add some trash to some important fights. Like say, taking on a troupe of hobgoblins or something, there's a couple of units, like hobgoblin shaman and chieftain or whatever, that are powerful that you have to deal with, but the regular mooks you can nuke with a fireball or something.
