>interactive movie
>Zig Forums doesnt bash it to death over it
it's ok when the japanese do it
Interactive movie
The interactive moments are fun, it doesn't take itself too seriously, and there are lots of optional minigames so you can effectively set the pacing yourself
>Has actual gameplay
That's the difference
Maybe because it also has fuck load of gameplay to go with the fuck load of cutscenes it has? And gameplay is actually fun instead of being "press one button to advance story"
>OP BTFO'd in three (3) replies
Love to see it. Good job guys.
>has actual gameplay
>tons of side content
>really polished cutscenes
>All the fights in the story missions
>Colosseum fights
>Playing chess / mahjong etc etc etc
>The Cabernet clubs / Clan building / real estate sub stories
bunch of other shit to minor to mention
How is it just a movie?
tfw want to play through all the games but 3 is incredibly fucking boring
>actual gameplay
do people really think yakuza has good gameplay?
have you actually played ANY yakuza game? the combat isn't good by any stretch of the imagination but calling it a moviegame is just pure bait
Most important is that the movie sections are actually entertaining. Same reason why you don't see people shitting on MGS3 long ass cutscenes for example.
The problem with most movie games is that being "cinematic" is all they have going for, and can't even do that well
Yes? I'll admit there are allways 1-2 absolute garbage bosses in each game but every other part feels good to play.
for me moviegames are shit where the movie part never stops, every part of the game goes for that cinematic feeling even to the detriment of gameplay
yakuza is literally just watch a long-ass cutscene, and then run around for a while beating people up and doing minigames and side stories, and then you go to the next plot location and watch a long-ass cutscene
It's not a "set-piece action" style game like what movie games are associated with (TLOU, Uncharted, God of War, etc), and neither is it an interactive story game (Life is strange, Heavy Rain, Detroit: Become Human)
It may have LOTS of cutscenes, but that doesn't make it a movie game
>gameplay is actually fun
Yeah spamming flashy heat moves is god tier combat, it's definitely not style over substance
Funny how you people shit on Batman all the time when Yakuza has one of the worst, most barebones, clunky, and unsatisfying combat systems in the entire industry
>barebones
yes
>clunky
yes
>unsatisfying
absolutely not
>M-Muh style over substance!
On the contrary user, sometimes style IS substance
Why do weebs defend shit games just because they are made in their precious discount china?
Only played Yakuza 0 so far and had a fucking blast. Do the other games have sidequest where people ask for help on the dumbest shit possible?
LOL
Yes. Yakuza Kiwami's sidequests are very boring since they were lifted straight from the first game, but the other ones have the same kind of wacky nonsense.
Yes
>absolutely not
Heat moves get old very quickly once you've seen all of them dozens of times, hitting a button to watch a flashy animation play is not satisfying
Yes, even the spinoffs like Judgment
>sometimes style IS substance
That's exactly something someone who would defend those movie games you hate so much would say
What the fuck? Of course. If anything you should be complaining that there's so much gameplay that it's trying to be too many things at once.
Yes, but the Kiwami games lift a majority of the substories from the original games which were primarily scam ones or filler with the occasional pretty good one. Both of them do have some more modern-written substories thrown in there though, it's not all just returning content so there's more of the serious ones and ridiculous ones scattered about.
I never said I hated movie games, user. Detroit Become Human is pretty fun and entertaining, but there's a unique difference between it and Yakuza
Dude did you know this game copied TLOU2? All the enemies have names so when you beat the everloving shit out of them you'll feel sorry about it, that's a Niel Druckmann invention!
wrong, stomping someones face into the pavement literally never gets old
Name games that have better gameplay than Yakuza? Note that Yakuza is a beat'em up.
Wrecking absolute havoc on punks over and over is satisfying as fuck and never gets old unless you are sort of onions
>localization never
why am I such an EOP
Sleeping Dogs
>Those delinquents made a fatal mistake
>They did not realize Kiryu had been listening to a lot of Queen lately.
>Letting that stop you from enjoying a game.
