Oblivion is the Elder Scrolls game that feels the most like an actual RPG.

Have you heard of the high elves?
I recall only the medium elves.
That would be Morrowind that gave you actual freedom, had interaction between the guilds and factions that mattered and didn't have you grandmaster in 5 minutes of any guild or faction that you joined.
In Oblivion you cannot do that and everything level scales with you as well. You can't make the choice to kill x or y person because the game makes them immortal, spells were simplified and so was pretty much all the rest.
I think Morrowind is the best but it feels more like an excel spread sheet character creator where you look for ways to break the game rather than actually roleplay.
Skyrim is better than this garbage
The UI design on Skyrim was a travesty to the medium.
agree
Why?
daggerfall is better if we're talking about rpg aspects
You min max in Morrowind to skip progression if you want, but you don't need to because you'll eventually end up OP anyways. Even without any cheese just having high armor and weapon skill and enough levels will let you beat everything. In Oblivion you min max just to keep up with level scaling enemies, and at end game you might end up feeling weaker than you did 20 hours ago.
Ye
>healer class
>destruction as major skill
>archer class
>blade, blunt and hand-to-hand as major skills
honestly what the fuck were they thinking?
>had interaction between the guilds and factions that mattered
it barely matters at all. you can join all the factions except for having to choose on house. and as far as I can recall, the only interaction between others is the fighters/theives guild and having to choose a side at the very very end. Other than that though the guild interaction is very minimal. you can be both the the highest rank of the temple and the imperial legion for instance.
I'm a Skyrim babby and i just started playing Oblivion. WHY DIDN'T THEY KEEP THE SPELLCASTING AAAAAAA
They had a few other neat ideas they ended up not implementing, making it shit
I wish I could feel my old enthusiasm for gaming again. Used to love games so much. Have so many happy memories. Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Fallout: New Vegas, Neverwinter Nights, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy I-IX. But I just don't feel like playing any of them again, and I hate virtually every new game. I don't know what's wrong with me. I wish I could open Oblivion right now and feel exactly the same thing that I did when I was a child, and know that experience of having a whole new world stretch out before me. But it is never going to happen again.
Do you have an otherwise fulfilling life? A job you're content with? In training or education?
Find some other shit in your life to occupy your time. Something that requires time, effort, and energy. Coming back to relax with vidya will feel better.
>it feels more like an excel spread sheet character creator where you look for ways to break the game rather than actually roleplay.
You don't have to min max and break the game though. You wouldn't even know about most of that stuff if you just played the game instead of looking up guides and walkthroughs.
>quest markers out the ass
>the most generic open world design ever conceived
>absolutely broken level scaling system that fucks the game at its very core
Just say "Oblivion was my first Elder Scrolls game" and be done with it
>feels more like an excel spread sheet character creator where you look for ways to break the game rather than actually roleplay.
There's at least one of these faggots in every RPG group as well. If that's how you played Morrowind, then you're one of them.
>the most generic open world design ever conceived
I liked the world, you had Italian trees near the Bravil. You got Scandianavian/Northern Germanic trees in Cheydinhal, The marches to the south. Each town and area had it's own the vegetation and unique architecture. I like it a lot more than Skyrims world
>morrowindfag thinks his shit game is an rpg
delusions
That's how everyone plays Morrowind though, the people that don't end up like
I hate the weapon wear in Oblivion.
Get into one fight and your weapon is so worn you have to repair it EVERY TIME!
Yes, I'm a student, but university feels more like a millstone round my neck than anything which energizes me.
why would anyone prefer Morrowind other than nostalgia?
just don't fight.
Hard disagree. Character builds are non-existent since you don't have perks. Two oblivion characters with 100 archery will play exactly the same, in skyrim you can specialize in different things thanks to perks. Same for every other skill.
Attributes are a non-issue since, again, you will max them out anyways. And they contribute to the single worst thing about oblivion, which is the worst leveling system of all time.
When in order to play a knight you have to put blade and heavy armor as MINOR skills so you don't level up too quickly you know something went very very wrong.
But old good new bad I guess, enjoy your shitty old game
also if you completely skip over the idiotic levelling system and never level, it REALLY starts feeling like an rpg because your starting stats actually matter
What does that even mean?
if you skip the levelling system, oblivion is the best rpg of all time
>Oblivion Reloaded 8 with interior shadows soon
I'm hyped.
I remember being so excited for Oblivion when it was about to come out. I think I've only played it through twice since. Skyrim is dumbed down as shit, but I'd still rather play through that than Oblivion.
