What's your opinion on fighting games in 2020?
Melee or King of Fighters style is best. You can't prove me wrong.
>Space correctly
>Hit opponent's toe
>You get hit
Dbfz is the same and it's garbage.
The melty one will never not make me laugh.
Too focused in esports.
Needs to have more pure fun modes/story
Why don't more games use accurate hitboxes like Skullgirls?
why was there a stock photo of an office worker kicking
Most modern fighting games are sorely lacking, and if the new GG is anything to go by its only going to be getting worse, i really hope SF6 makes things more complex again and get rid of this trend of simplified games..
Pain in the ass to do, for very little gain. If not some loss, if the hitboxes are too accurate, stuff starts to feel off and some stuff that feels like it should work won't just because of the character wiggling in the animation. The accuracy is nice though. But Skullgirls later characters switched to more conventional big boxes because Mike realised it took too long to do.
probably harder to balance if you have specific character designs in mind. you cant go as wacky or diverse in sizes without some bit of leniency in the hitboxes to prevent the tiniest character or longest character from being the most OP
Why would they? Complicated hitboxes are hard to learn, hard to program, impossible to balance. What benefit is there?
I never get this one, what is the red vs blue signifying? like i know how collisions work but what is the red box for?
Despite some of the games having some bad hurtboxes and some questionable balancing, I believe Fighting Games are at their biggest. The medium is far bigger than it's ever been before, it's fun. Not saying it's better, just bigger.
the hitbox for the actual attack
Blue is the hittable area
Red is the area doing the hitting
Skullgirls hitboxes are dunning-kruger tier.
Always makes me laugh to see charts like this. Fighting games are a dead genre, every single one loses it's already-modest playerbases within a WEEK after release and the FGC spends it's time wanking over which of their dead games is hardest to learn. Who gives a shit?
>The medium is far bigger than it's ever been before
Not even close
You ever get hit while in mid attack? The blue boxes are why.
Sounds like someone is triggered
If they really cared about competitive matches they wouldn't always make online multiplayer so shitty...in reality they don't change anything because they are ok just milking the whales with microtransactions
Will we ever get another bloody roar game? I miss them.
Konami owns it now, so pray they don't
All the current "big" games are shit except maybe Tekken 7 but that only gets a neutral pass from me because I haven't played it. None of them are satisfying to play and nothing has replaced UMvC3 yet.
They are garbage.
Wouldn't a suit be a highly impractical thing to wear in a fight?
>old bad
>new good
looks like Dark Souls pvp
Divekick is an ultimate casual filter, because they cannot complain that the controls are too complicated for them.
Correct
Chart was made by the Bloody Roar autist who hates Tekken and samefags FG threads to hell with reaction images
>I believe Fighting Games are at their biggest
Not even close. FGs died with the arcade era. Player numbers for FGs are abysmal and competitively, the old guard are the only thing keeping FGs alive. Average age of Evo finalists for non smash-games was like 27, in a few years when these people grow up and get actual jobs/families companies will just stop investing in the genre.
