Unfortunately as proclaims, Pokemon is still selling way too well for them to need to do anything, and it's easier continuing on the path of least resistance.
If you're talking about how to make them good again, then they need to hire good programmers and have the directer be someone who actually respects the game series and the players, or they need to go out-of-house.

It's a MMORPG by Tencent which will become the new standard Pokemon game with DLC every year so GameFreak can focus on games without rushing them.

Put in more Kanto/Johto. Remove nu pokemon designs. Stop making new pokemon. Make an actual remake of HGSS with proper mechanics and not LGPE. If they really insist on LGPE throwing mechanics, then make it an optional control scheme.

The programming from the pokemania days in 90s is fundamentally ingrained into my brain so a part of me will always love this series. The rational part of my brain knows it is never going to good game again.

Sword and Shield proves that consumers don't care if a product is good or not. They will buy it anyways. Just look at the Last of Us 2 highest profile failure in terms of living up to expectations in maybe years. But I guarantee once those sales numbers come out. 10 million copies at least. For context Last of Us part 1 sold 17 million copies.

>mega evolves, z-moves, dynamax, making weaker pokemon competitive
>multiple regions
>single version, asks questions to determine what kinds you encounter, expansion packs to add in more content over time
