cuckmann shoulda let ellie decide, or at least had two scenarios;
1. scenario A you play the game as we know it, from joel's perspective, all the way until they reach the hospital
2. scenario B you play as ellie from the point of her childhood up until the pivotal moment in the hospital
3. final scenario becomes available after you play both and it is there you get to choose which character to side with based on the choices you've made along the way

The best thing to do is to allow Ellie to make that decision, but only after she takes in everything that is going on. Make sure she understands the implications. Whether Joel did the right thing or not is up for the player to decide. What makes the sequel shitty is that they gave the doctor you killed some backstory so you would feel bad. Now you're being told how to feel about what Joel did.
